Main purpose of the position ICARDA invites applications from experienced professionals for the position of Resource Mobilization Officer to support fundraising for agricultural research for development. The position is to contribute to the development and implementation of an institutional resource mobilization strategy, identifying funding opportunities, and collecting and acting on donor intelligence. The selected candidate will work with a team organized in a unit on project development and grants management unit.

Main responsibilities
Contribute to the development and implementation of the resource mobilization strategy through the identification of expanded opportunities for funding research for development activities through regular monitoring of changes in donor policies and priorities that align with ICARDA’s research priorities. Review ICARDA’s research strategies and identify the medium-term (1-3 years) to longterm (4-6 years) funding needs, and develop funding needs assessment Assess ICARDA’s funding gaps at CRP, Research Programs and Regional program levels and advise on a practical plan for filling the funding gaps. Work closely with CRP Focal Points, Research Programs and Regional Programs on developing specific fund raising activities within the framework of ICARDA’s Resource Mobilization Strategy, and identify potential funders. Review ICARDA Proposals of the last two years and identify reasons why fund raising has or has not been successful Be responsible for ICARDA’s RM Plan on the realization of pipeline projects. Manage donor information such as contacts database, donor priorities, calls for proposals and other opportunities. Pay specific attention to fund raising from the private sector, foundations and nontraditional donors. Other responsibilities and duties assigned by ADG-ICC. International and regional travel will be required.
Education, qualifications and experience

Graduate degree (Masters or PhD) in business management, public relations and international development or related fields with minimum of 5 to 9 years’ experience. Demonstrated record in fundraising and resource mobilization for non-profit organizations for programs and projects related to agriculture/rural development at an international level. Additional National and regional experience is an advantage. Excellent knowledge of international donor community, investors, and their funding opportunities. High level of competence in written and oral communication in English, report writing, preparing minutes and presentations to wide and diverse audience; Experience in working with multi-disciplinary teams from different backgrounds and cultures. Excellent skills in analysis, information management, and use of standard software packages. Excellent interpersonal skills.
Terms of appointment, salary and benefits Depending on the availability of funds, the initial contract will be for 3 years, of which the first year will be probationary period. Subsequent employment is determined based on the performance and continued need for the position. It will be initially based in Amman, Jordan but will be relocated to Cairo, Egypt following ICARDA’s decentralization plan.
