W. Bailey in J 951.'1 R. E. Emmerick translated it into Englisb with a commentary in J970,' and gave a glossary in J973.·' Em merick drew attention to a parallel story known in Sanskrit, the N(tndiivadiina, whi ch has not yet been published. This is a story contained in a manuscript called the Avaduna-sara samuccaya (ASS) kept in the Cambridge University Library.. Though listed by C. Bendall as the third tale in the collection. the Nanda legelld is the fou.rth story there." Jllalsarananddvadana is the title of the tale as it appears in the ASS manuscript.
