LA GRANDE, Ore. – The Rocky Mountain College men’s soccer team has been named the “Team of the Week” for October 24-30, the Cascade Collegiate Conference announced Sunday. What may be considered the most grueling trip in the CCC didn’t seem to faze the Battlin’ Bears this past weekend as they traveled nearly 2500 miles round trip from Billings Montana to Klamath Falls and Ashland Oregon to take on Oregon Tech and Southern Oregon. Rocky came away with two wins on the final weekend of regular season play to capture a share of the CCC regular season title with Corban University. The tiebreaker criteria of head to head results gave Rocky the No. 1 seed in the upcoming CCC Conference Tournament presented by U.S. Bank. Even more important is they also secured the first of two automatic qualifications to the NAIA National Tournament awarded to men’s soccer. The Battlin’ Bears defeated Oregon Tech 3-0 on Friday and took down second year program SOU 2-1 on Saturday. Rocky (12-3-2, 10-1-2 CCC) will turn around and travel back to Springfield Oregon this week as they will face No. 8 seed Oregon Tech in the quarterfinals of the CCC men’s tournament on Friday November 4th. Kickoff is scheduled for 5 p.m. at the Willamalane Sports Complex.
