2015 Alpha Delta Kappa

Scholarships in Review

Each biennium, Alpha Delta Kappa International awards more than a quarter of a million dollars through its scholarship programs. The following individuals are recipients of recent Alpha Delta Kappa scholarships and grants. Because of these valuable programs, hundreds of individuals have been able to further their talents, interests and careers.

Maxine B. Pettibone Scholarships

In memor y of a pioneering member, the Maxine B. Pettibone Scholarship is awarded twice yearly to a child or grandchild, male or female, of an Alpha Delta Kappa member, who is pursuing a master’s degree in education. The fall 2015 semester recipient is Robert Scott of Havre de Grace, Mar yland. He is the son of Marjorie Scott of Mar yland Omicron Chapter. The award will assist Scott in his career as a math teacher in Hartford County, Mar yland. “In this school system, contracts have not been honored for five of the past six years. Consequently, Hartford County teachers have not received the same pay increases that teachers in other counties receive,” he said. “This scholarship will help keep me at this school teaching the subject that I love to students I care for deeply.” The spring 2016 semester Maxine B. Pettibone Scholarship was Robert Scott Deanna Sefcik awarded to Deanna Sefcik of Greer, South Carolina. She is the daughter of Lori Sefcik, New Jersey Gamma Chapter. The scholarship will assist Sefcik in gaining a master’s in education with a concentration in mathematics, helping her “provide a better learning experience for all students who enter my classroom,” she said.
