Therefore, I, as a parent, will support my child’s learning by doing the following: Sign report cards; See that my child is punctual, attends school regularly and is ready to learn; Review homework assignments and offer assistance when needed;; Promote positive use of my child’s extracurricular time; Limit the amount of time my child watches television and plays video games; Demonstrate interest in my child’s well-being by attending school functions and supporting school activities; Participate, as appropriate, in decisions relating to my child's education; Promptly read all notices from the school or the school district and respond, as appropriate; Encourage positive attitudes toward school; Make every effort to attend parent/teacher conferences; Volunteer in my child’s classroom; Serve on policy, advisory, and planning teams whenever possible. Student Responsibilities: It is important that I work to the best of my ability. Therefore, I shall strive to do the following: Do the best I can and ask for help when I need it; Follow classroom and school rules; Show respect for my self, my friends, and all adults; Do my homework and come to school prepared to learn; Be cooperative and encourage my classmates; Know that school must be a safe place and work to keep it safe; Complete and return homework assignments in a legible and timely manner; Read at least 30 minutes everyday outside of school time; Give all school notices and information received by me to my parent/guardian every day. Teacher Responsibilities: It is important that students achieve. Provide high-quality curriculum and instruction in a supportive and effective learning environment that enables the participating children to meet the State’s student academic standards; Hold parent/conferences each six-weeks during which this compact will be discussed as it relates to the individual child’s achievement; Provide parents with mid-term and six weeks reports on their children’s progress; Provide parents reasonable access to staff wherein parents may request meetings/conferences before or after school throughout the year to discuss student progress; Provide parent opportunities to volunteer and participate in their child’s class and to observe classroom activities through the parent/ teacher organization and individually through collaboration with the classroom teacher.
