a b c b This poem is the narration of rain in the first person. At the beginning the rain claims to be very beautiful with silver threads dropped from heaven by the Gods. It said that the Nature receives the rain as mothers take a new born child in their hands with love and affection. It is further said that the rain is all beautiful pearls plucked from the crown of Ishtar, to decorate the gardens. When the rain comes down the hills rejoice and the flowers smile. When the bow is seen, it seems to be all things on earth and elated. The theme of the poem is very simple and attractive. With beautiful style of narration and simple imagery the poet depicts what everybody observes and experiences when the rain comes down. A very special imagery is brought out when the poet says:” When I cry, the hills laugh, when I humble myself the flowers rejoice”. All these things point out that the poet is Nature loving. The language is used by the poet is inspiring and exemplary.
