Require unha tensión de alimentación de entre 3 a 5,5 V e o rango de medidas vai de: -55°C a +125ºC, cunha aproximación de +-0,5 ºC no rango de -10°C a +85°C, entregando o valor da temperatura con 12 bits a intervalos de 750 milisegundos. Cada DS18B20 ten o seu propio nº de serie, puidendo haber varios no mesmo bus. O sensor ten 3 conectores: Potencia (conectalo a 5V de Arduino), Masa (conectalo á masa de Arduino) e Datos (conectalo a unha entrada dixital de Arduino). O manual do DS18B20 di que se pode usar para monitorización de temperatura en edificios e control de sistemas.
A curva anterior indica que o erro medio da sempre un valor algo inferior ao real de 0ºC ata os 50ºC, é dicir, á temperatura normal de funcionamento. A resolución do sensor de temperatura é configurable polo usuario a: 9, 10, 11 ou 12 bits, que se corresponden a incrementos de temperatura de 0.5ºC, 0.25ºC, 0.125ºC e 0.0625ºC respectivamente. Sendo a resolución por defecto de 12 bits. A temperatura é dada en ºC (para ºF ou ºK hai que realizar a convesión posteriormente no programa). Usei un programa de proba que viña na páxina indicada anteriormente, que chamei KY001 e tamén outro programa que utiliza a biblioteca Dallas Temperature (chameille Tester KY-001, obtíveno da páxina: http://www.hobbytronics.co.uk/ds18b20-arduino) e ambos programas dan valores similares.
Coas medidas de referencia do termómetro de mercurio, fixen unha comparativa co sensor KY-001:
O valor medio da diferencia entre as medidas do termómetro de mercurio e o KY-001 está en torno a -1,1ºC. A liña de tendencia (de cor verde), mostra que a diferencia é un pouco maior (-1,25ºC) a temperaturas baixas (preto dos 15ºC) e se aproxima a -1ºC segundo nos aproximamos aos 45ºC. En xeral, se pode dicir que o sensor KY-001 proporciona medidas 1ºC inferiores ao termómetro de mercurio utilizado como referencia.
