Stewardship Jope Langejans Roll: Jope Langejans (chair), Shirley McClarty, Greg Parker, Evangeline Lamson, Gale Richardson, Elizabeth Gourlay, Appeals & Grants Jope Langejans was unable to attend the last Conference meeting of the Appeals and Grants committees. Coronation Presbytery will need to nominate a representative for the Conference Appeals and Grants Committee that will meet again in April 2014. Pensions: Due to ill health, Donna Zimmer is currently unable to fill this role. Nominations may need to look for another candidate for this position. Mission and Service: Silent Auction – we have an Auction today to raise funds for Mission and Service. Presbyters were encouraged to visit the Auction often throughout the weekend meeting. Property: Greg Parker Donalda Property Paperwork for the Donalda property is now underway, signatures have been received and soon the sale will be registered and completed. In 1997 permission was given to sell this property but the work was not done. In the intervening time, taxes have not been paid on the property. This is now the responsibility of Presbytery to rectify. Motion 13/14 76 Greg Parker/Jope Langejans That Coronation Presbytery authorize payment to the Village of Donalda for outstanding municipal taxes on the United Church property, being Plan 2147AT, Block 9, Lot 10, in the amount of $800.00 CARRIED Rowley Property Greg Parker indicated that when he has completed the sale of the Donald property that he will then work on the Rowley Property to complete its sale. Bashaw United Church, Bashaw Corner of 51st Street & 52nd Ave, Bashaw, 780-372-3891 Christian Development and Communication Roll: Judith Walker, Dave Edwards, Marilyn Norton, Marilyn Penfound Motion 13/14 80 Judith Walker/ Marilyn Norton That the division request $1,000.00 in the 2014 Budget to help with the expenses of youth attending the Go Project in 2014; this sum to be included in the Christian Development and Communication Division budget and administered by the division. CARRIED Camp Reports: Bar Harbour Summer Camp: 4 weeks at 80% capacity. With this and increased rentals they did have a small financial surplus at the end of the year. Bar Harbour Camp will be holding their Annual meeting in February which will include an invitation to people to engage in a conversation around the viability of camp “growing or going”. Hardisty Lake and Bar Harbour camps shared staffing this year for the first time and found this to be an excellent experience. Video Licenses: Please renew your licenses for showing videos. These fees are refundable through Presbytery. Campus Ministries: Congregations are encouraged to support the work of Campus Ministries. Vacation Bible Camps: There was very limited participation in the Vacation Bible Camp program in 2013. Is there still a need for Presbytery to find a coordinator for a continuing program? After some discussion the consensus was that we would like the division to explore further the hiring of a Presbytery Summer Vacation Bible Camp coordinator for 2014. Motion 13/14 81 Judith Walker / David Edwards That the Christian Development and Communications report be accepted.

Church in the World Velma Pearen Roll: Velma Pearen, (chair), Melanie Weaver, Andy Cameron, Mervyn Penfound Syrian Refugees: Velma Pearen followed up with the information on the Syrian Refugess. The Government has moved their focus from Syrian Refugees to Philippine Refugees because of the crisis situation in the Philippines. Philippines: Congregations are encouraged to be aware of the Philippine members of their communities and to donate online on the United Church website. Donations received by December 8th, 2013 will be matched by the Government of Canada. Put the website in your bulletin or speak to your congregation during minute for mission. It only costs $300 to build a house in the Philippines so that if we can raise $150, the matching UC grants would enable a house to be built. Truth and Reconciliation Commission: Final Commission in March 27–30 ,2014 in the Shaw Conference Centre in Edmonton. For information go UC website Aboriginal Resources. Church in the World would like to have thirty minutes at the April meeting for a presentation on the commission.

UNITED CHURCH WOMEN OF CORONATION PRESBYTERY REPORT November 26, 27, 3013 Greetings Ladies, In order for me to effectively communicate with all of you, this report will consist of much more paper than I would like to use. With your cooperation in responding to the survey at the end, later information will be less paper. Please get your response to Adrine or I - quickly to help save a tree and time. FOR YOUR INFORMATION The Full Executive meeting of ANW Conference UCW was held in Okotoks on October 17-19/13. Our theme “Walk with Me” was supported by Rev. Lee Spice, with whom we shared stories; Rev. Sue Hertell led us through the Comprehensive Review process; Gisela Dyck shared about Healing Pathways; Margo Aftergood our Calgary hostess announced that the annual meeting will be at FCJ Christian Life Centre 219 19th Avenue SW on April 24 – 26, 2014. All are invited. More information will be available in February. Louise Rogers helped us look at the next 2 to 5 Years. Danielle Smith, the Honourable leader of the Opposition Party discussed her ideas of eliminating child poverty as the Child Well Being Initiative Report. It was difficult to see the devastation from the flood at the church and we stayed on the second floor at the motel as renovations were not completed on the main floor. The sum total of all returns helps us at the Conference level to not only determine allocations in the fairest way we can, but to help us also assess the climate of the STEWARDSHIP AND FINANCE of the women all across the Conference. The United Church Women continues to make a significant contribution to the work of the whole mission of the Church. Your efforts on behalf of the work of the Church through United Church Women is greatly appreciated. Coronation Presbytery graciously supplies part of the allocation to Conference UCW – a donation from each unit would be helpful as well. Also National UCW request $1 dollar per year per member so that they are not depleting the Mission & Service dollars.

Report to Coronation Presbytery from Conference Executive by Sue Hertell Meeting October 2-3/13 •Our President, Leigh Sinclair, led four discussions with our larger group about: approaching our work and each other with health and vitality oWhat is the WHY? of wanting to be together with people, with the United Church, at business meetings such as Conference Executive? Why do we come? What is the spark, the fire, the hearth that draws us to the circle? oWhat do you love to do in your community of faith but don’t get a chance to do because of the “must-do’s”? What would we give up in order to pick up this opportunity? oHow can we create an environment in which we are encouraged to experiment, and maybe even fail, as we seek to follow Gods call? oHow do we as leader in Conference circles best tap into the ideas and initiatives that are coming from our communities of faith? Result: better and deeper discussion, coupled with very meaningful worship led by Carolyn Woodall based on reflections about the Four Elements of God’s creation: earth, wind, fire and water. Reports: •from Presbyteries •past and present presidents of Conference •Executive Secretary – Lynn Maki •Financial and Budget •UCW •Intercultural ministries Presentations: Debbie Hubbard – the Truth and Reconciliation Commission and LIRR (Living Into Right Relations) •My name tag for Glad and Generous Hearts, with the four native colours from our crest, reflects the Executive’s commitment to support the March event in Edmonton •March 27-30/14 in Edmonton: Truth and Reconciliation event. Asked if we could support, including financially, the survivors who will attend that event? •Book: Speaking My Truth: Reflections on Reconciliation and Residential School (copies available at Glad and Generous Hearts) Don Dale: re the United Network for Justice and Peace in Palestine and Israel… shared a power point presentation… which I understood would be available to us in presbyteries… package has come to our pastoral charges this past week with information about this issue – invitation to study the Kairos Palestine document Cancelled the Conference Executive meeting scheduled for December 2013. Next meeting March 14 and 15/14 at FCJ Centre in Calgary As GC representative, I participated in a 2nd sitting of GC41 on Saturday Nov. 16th on-line… worship… motions were minor book-keeping things… but worship was powerful and connection across the country worked well… At the end of the meeting there was meeting of folks in General Council office about Living in Right Relations…exploring “what are the next steps” - viewed a short video on Youtube… “Why don’t you just get over it?… excellent resource…
