Kentucky Colonel AT THE KENTUCKY BREAKFAST, WANDA TRIMBLE PRESENTED SER INTERNATIONAL VICE PRESIDENT PAULA DAVIS AND INTERNATIONAL PRESIDENT RUTH ANN GRIGGS WITH KENTUCKY COLONEL CERTIFICATES. THIS IS AN HONORARY COMMISSION GIVEN BY THE GOVERNOR TO INDIVIDUALS NOTED FOR THEIR PUBLIC SERVICE AND THEIR WORK FOR THE ADVANCEMENT OF KENTUCKY.

State Breakfasts “Blue Moon of Kentucky” “The Sun Shined Bright” Wednesday morning as sisters from around the region gathered together and began their day with state breakfasts. This is always a special time as it is the first gathering as a state. Many states decorated tables with cheery centerpieces. International President Ruth Ann Griggs and SER IVP Paula Davis visited each of the seven state breakfasts.

Third General Session “Embracing World Understanding” The final general session was called to order by Southeast Region International Vice President Paula Davis as she sang an original song she wrote in 2000 and updated for this conference. Wanda Trimble, SER Chaplain, shared our Thought for the Day on the importance of embracing World Understanding. Kristi Wilkerson, SER Music Conference Director led sisters in a sing-a-long. The first song titled Little Red included motions sisters performed as they watched a cartoon video of the song. Sisters were accompanied by Linda Craft on the piano as they sang a trilogy of Stephen Foster songs. Finally, embracing world understanding, sisters sang It’s a Small World.

Pat Banks, SER Conference Vice Chairman introduced our speaker, Brigadier General Barbara Lynne Owens, Deputy Commanding General, U.S. Army Human Resources Command from Fort Knox. Brigadier General Owens spoke on the importance of understanding other cultures and a life of learning. Keith George, Chief of Staff for Personnel at Fort Knox brought appreciation and thanks to the sisters of Southeast Region for their generosity in donations of school supplies to children in war zones. Keith emphasized that education is a commonality that ties people together. Members of International Chapter were available to answer questions during Communication Central. At the same time World Understanding voting took place for the three World Understanding Projects for the next biennium. IVP Ruth Ann Griggs and International Committee and Board members extended an invitation to the International Convention in New Orleans July 12–15, 2017. An invitation by Maryland sisters was also extended to the 2018 SER Conference in Baltimore July 17–19 at the Renaissance Baltimore Harbor Hotel. Future Events – Sue Cooper, ITE Board Member announced the upcoming ITE Weekend November 11-13, 2016

Fleur de Lis Reception Sisters and guests gathered to honor our thirteen sisters from International Chapter and for a time of sisterhood at a lovely reception prior to the banquet.

Southeast Regional Banquet “Run for the Roses” The SER Singing Sisters under the direction of Kristi Wilkerson and accompanied by Linda Craft and Marie Weber entertained the group at our final event for the conference. Our International President Ruth Ann Griggs was our speaker for the banquet. She talked about each individuals’ importance to Alpha Delta Kappa. She involved all attendees with an activity that showed she’s got our number and that number is one!

The final amount of money collected for the conference altruistic project was announced by SER Altruistic Chairman Jan Martin. Southeast Region sisters graciously donated $4,364.00 to The Louisville Leopard Percussionists.
