About Shower Strike Reaching the Goal
A Diverse Community of Participants with One Goal
Shower Strikers vow not to shower during Shower Strike week (April 22nd-29th) until they reach their fundraising goal (suggested goal: $1,000) , which goes towards building life-saving water systems in Africa. Every Shower Strike Participant who reaches this goal makes it possible for at least 100 people to have access to clean water for the next 25 years.
Since the first Shower Strike in 2009, more than 800 people have participated, raising more than $850,000 for wells and water systems in East Africa. This is enough to bring clean water to 85,000 people.
Our Shower Strike community includes everyone from school children to lawyers, doctors, and other professionals; from famous actors to pro-athletes. The one thing they all have in common: believing in the fundamental right to clean water.

WELL AWARE is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization with headquarters in Austin, Texas that provides innovative and sustainable solutions to water scarcity and contamination in Africa. We fund and implement life-saving water systems to drive economic development and build self-sufficient communities. At Well Aware, our responsibility to the communities in which we work goes far beyond the drilling of a hole. More than 60 percent of existing water wells in Africa currently do not work. 100% of our water systems work and they last because of realistic and responsible planning. Our partner communities are thriving as a result.
Our nationally recognized annual fundraising campaign, Shower Strike, takes place April 22nd-April 29th 2018.
