Physical to digital startup SnowShoe raises $2.2 Million in Series Seed Funding LOS ANGELES, 3:00PM PT, October 14th, 2014 – SnowShoe, the creator of unique plastic identification stamps for mobile devices, announced today a Series Seed round of $2.2M led by FG Angels Syndicate, the AngelList Syndicate of Foundry Group, among others. The financing will be used to fund SnowShoe’s continuous development of its unique Stamp technology and its complementary developer tools, along with the development of new turnkey products that make innovative use of the technology. Founded in 2011, SnowShoe specializes in creating magical pieces of plastic, Stamps, which can be uniquely identified when touched to the screen of a touch-‐enabled mobile device. Stamps have no batteries, power, circuitry, antenna, or moving parts, and blur the boundaries between their digital and physical worlds. SnowShoe Stamps let software developers, product creators, and advertisers bring physical-‐digital experiences to mobile platforms. Stamps work with all multi-‐touch mobile devices, and their software can be integrated into projects in mere minutes. Over the last summer, the company participated in the exclusive Disney Accelerator powered by Techstars. As one of the carefully selected startup companies on the program, SnowShoe tapped into a range of creative expertise and resources of both the Walt Disney Company and the Techstars startup community. Coming out of Disney Accelerator, the company is gearing up to pilot its latest products with several major corporate partners. The current funding round investors are Foundry Group (through their AngelList Syndicate, FGAngels), Ludlow Ventures, Queensbridge VC (the seed investment fund headed by rapper ‘Nas), Brian Lee (through his seed fund, Bam VC), 500S, Scott Banister, Hiten Shah, Walt Winshall, Pat Peterson, Don Layden, and TX Zhuo, among others. SnowShoe was founded by Jami Morton and Claus Moberg when they were graduate students at the University of Wisconsin, and it is based in Madison, Wisconsin and San Francisco, California. Prior to their participation in the Disney Accelerator, SnowShoe also participated in the 2013 class of TechStars Boulder.
