HiIlview Cottage

Several other vertical slab out-buildings occur on the site and these together with the cottage provide good examples of the technigues construction and style characteristic of the pioneer era. A11 the buildings are in a poor condition (Plates 45 and 46). The two out-buildings major restoration works if they are require to - survive the next few years while restoration works on the cottage, although not as extensive, are urgently reguired if the building is to be preserved. The cottage should be assessed to determine the costs of restoration, and this examined in the light of it,s local signifj,cance rati-ng. ft should be noted however, that restoration and preservation over the long term requires that a compatible use be found for the building. -94
