DanChurchAid – South Asia Regional Office Vacancy Announcement for Shelter Support to the Earthquake Affected Communities of Nepal (SEACON) funded by European Commission Humanitarian Aid and Civil Protection (ECHO) DanChurchAid (DCA) is a faith-based, non-missionary organization. In Nepal and Bangladesh, we are involved in several thematic areas with our work focusing on resilient livelihood, active citizenship and migrants’ rights, among others. The DCA SARO invites applications from qualified and competent Nepalese candidates for the position of Shelter Engineer for ECHO Project based in Kathmandu. The project period is 12.months starting from 1 May 2016 to 31 April 2017. 1) Shelter Engineer: The position will be mainly responsible to plan, design and implement shelter activities. S/he will be also responsible to provide technical support to the implementing partners and responsible for quality control, monitor and reporting. In addition s/he would draft BoQs, sketches and implementation plan and responsible for coordination and networking. The position will be based in Kathmandu with frequent field visits across three project districts. Required qualifications and competencies: Bachelor’s degree in relevant subject with 5-7 years of relevant work experience. Should have excellent understanding of technical drawings and the bill of quantity, In addition knowledge to design micro and small shelter and understanding of low cost and environment friendly infrastructure design. Good experience of conflict management at community level. Experience and knowledgeable in livelihood, disaster and emergency response, gender and Rights Based Approach The candidate must have personal commitment to social equity and equal rights and opportunities and adhere to the staff policies of DCA on Sexual Harassment and Anti-Corruption.
