Special Issue on Accelerators for High-Performance Computing Journal of Parallel and Distributed Computing Guest Editors: Ramón Doallo, Basilio B. Fraguela (Universidade da Coruña, Spain)
The Journal of Parallel and Distributed Computing (JPDC) seeks original manuscripts for a Special Issue on Accelerators for High-Performance Computing scheduled to appear in the second half of 2011. Parallel accelerators (GPUs, Cell, FPGAs, ...) are playing an increasing important role in computationally demanding disciplines such as realistic 3D computer graphics and high-performance scientific computing. The use of these accelerators for General-Purpose computation achieves speedups of orders of magnitude vs. optimized sequential or parallel CPU implementations. A weak point nowadays of these accelerators is their reduced programmability in comparison with traditional general purpose CPUs. This Special Issue is focused on experiences and new developments in the parallel and distributed programming of these systems, with an emphasis on novel algorithms, languages and development environments. Each submission will be reviewed by at least three reviewers to ensure very high quality of selected papers for the special issue. Please note that only research that considers the usage of several computing nodes is of interest for the Special Issue, given the scope of the JPDC journal. SUBMISSION GUIDELINES The submitted papers must be written in English and describe original research which is neither published, nor currently under review by other journals or conferences. The author guidelines for preparation of manuscript can be found at http://www.elsevier.com/wps/find/journaldescription.cws_home/622895/authorinstructions. Each manuscript should be accompanied by a cover letter outlining the basic findings of the paper and their significance. Manuscripts should be no longer than 20 double-spaced pages, not including the title page, abstract, or references. All manuscripts and any supplementary material should be submitted through the Elsevier Editorial System (EES) at the location http://ees.elsevier.com/jpdc/. The authors must select Special Issue "AHPC" upon uploading their paper.
