Our PE Coordinator is released from the classroom for the equivalent of a half day each week to work on her management role. She uses at least half of this time to lead PE/Sports by e.g.:  attending meetings relating to PE or School Sports (e.g. network meetings for staff in the LA or locality, or meetings with professional coaches to discuss how to maximise their input);  attending training on her own behalf and planning training for other teachers in our school;  organising participation for our pupils in inter-school competitions;  planning in-house competitions and organising support from sports leaders, etc., in their delivery;  accompanying pupils on sports-related activities, e.g. sessions at a local squash club or climbing wall;  planning sporting events and activities such as our termly Big Health Days and annual sports day;  leading the Year Four residential visit to Robinwood;  observing, teaching alongside and otherwise supporting colleagues and trainees in PE/sports. These activities ensure that participation in (a wide variety of) school sports is high, that skills standards (with regard to both pupils and teachers) are constantly improving and that children remain enthusiastic about physical activity, both during lesson times and at lunchtime or after school clubs. Other members of staff are released as appropriate to attend training in PE/School Sports.

The school continues to buy into the NTC PE/Sports SLA. Our PE Coordinator continues to attend Whitley Bay Collaborative meetings.

Coaches – working alongside members of staff to enhance our provision and not simply to deliver the requirements of the national curriculum 5. 6. 7.

Tennis & football: Michael Hume of the Tony Blair Sports Foundation teaches in Year Four each week. Athletics: John Renney of the TBSF provides weekly athletics coaching sessions in Year Four. There is no cost to the school for these sessions. Other specialist coaches provide additional support to pupils and teachers each year, e.g. in skipping.

Sports-related Educational Visits: Robinwood is heavily subsidised by the school. There is a shortfall in parental contributions to cover the cost of transport to and from sporting competitions and other events. In addition, the school funds the costs of events at which small groups of pupils are selected to represent Rockcliffe. In 15-16 it has been decided not to charge any of these costs to the School Sports Fund. 9. Resources: any funds remaining once the other aspects of expenditure have been covered are spent on high quality resources to support lessons and extra-curricular activities across school. 10. Impact of the School Sports Funding We are confident that our use of the £8830 allocation in 2014-15 has been, and our allocation in 2015-16 will be, hugely beneficial in terms of increasing pupil participation and attainment in school sports. Over the next few weeks we will be reviewing our data in order to provide more detailed information about the impact of our measures and our plans for the future.
