Fact Sheet Sunday, March 20th • 7:30am – 9:00am – Bib Pick-Up & Day-Of Registration at Vail Nordic Center (1778 Vail Valley Dr.) • 8:00am – Equipment Rental at Vail Nordic Center • 9:00am – Nordic Practice (Vail Nordic Center) • 10:00am – Nordic Freestyle Start (Vail Nordic Center) • 11:30am – 12:00pm – Bib Pick-Up (for athletes competing only in the Little Big Air) at Ski & Snowboard Club Vail (598 Vail Valley Drive) • 11:30am – 1:00pm – SSCV Club BBQ & Vail Cup Sponsor Recognition at Ski & Snowboard Club Vail. Free for all Vail Cup & SSCV athletes & staff. Parents & guests $5. • 1:00pm – Little Big Air Start at Golden Peak Terrain Park • 3:45pm – Awards at Ski & Snowboard Club Vail Nordic Equipment – The Vail Nordic Center has equipment available for rental for $5 but quantities are limited so please bring your own or borrow from a friend if possible. Equipment rental will be first come first serve. In the event that there are not enough rentals, we will run two heats and have the athletes share equipment. Want to stock up on your nordic gear? The Vail Nordic Center will be having their blowout sale with all clothing & equipment up to 50% off. Nordic Competition – The format will be a Freestyle (skate and/or classic). SSCV Nordic coaches will be on hand to assist so come early and practice with the pros! Little Big Air – The Competition will take place in the Golden Peak Race Terrain Park on one of the small jumps. Competitors will receive an overall score based on amplitude, execution and difficulty. Athletes each take one run through the course. Athletes will have a chance to practice the course during inspection at 12:00pm. Parking – There is NO PARKING at Ski & Snowboard Club Vail. Please park at Manor Vail, Vail Village Parking Structure or other public parking lots around Vail.

 

 

Vail Cup FAQ’s Q: When will my child compete? A: Athletes run in numerical bib order. Please refer to the day’s start list if you do not know your child’s bib number. Start intervals will be provided at BIB PICK-UP & PARENT ORIENTATION at SSCV the day of the event. You can easily calculate your child’s start time based on that interval, the event start time and their bib number. Q: When will my child receive his/her bib? A: Bibs are to be picked up during BIB PICK-UP & PARENT ORIENTATION from 7:30am – 9:30am on Vail Cup days at Ski & Snowboard Club Vail (598 Vail Valley Drive). Please return your bib to the bib collector after your last event each day. Q: What time do the events start? A: We will try to run the morning event at 10:00am and the afternoon event at 1:00pm. Exact start times will be available at BIB PICK-UP & PARENT ORIENTATION. Q: If my child is a SSCV athlete, are they automatically registered in Vail Cups? A: No, all athletes must register. When registering, please indicate which events your child will participate in. Registration forms may also be downloaded from our website at www.skiclubvail.org. Q: Is there coaching on Vail Cup days? Will my child be supervised? A: Some coaches will be available throughout the venues to assist in inspection, start areas, finish areas and facilitating the event but it is your responsibility to supervise your child. Q: Can I watch the competitions and races? A: Yes, we encourage you watch your kids! Please do so in designated viewing areas such as the finish area and outside the competition arenas. Q: Where is the race/event? A: All giant slalom races will take place at Gold Peak. The nordic event is at the Vail Nordic Center. All other event locations will be announced the week before the event and, as always, at BIB PICK-UP & PARENT ORIENTATION.
