League Rules

Stonewall Darts plays the game of Cricket. A team must have a minimum of 2 players to commence play. Matches must commence within 5 minutes of scheduled start time, otherwise the team with the insufficient number of players forfeits. The present team is credited with a win and 50 points. Teams must commence play once at least two members are present and time has begun. Teams may not delay games to wait for additional players to arrive. If both teams arrive too late, the result is a loss for both teams with zero point differentials.

Captains must make introductions and share their team’s sequence of play prior to the start of the match. All players present are required to play, in sequence, throughout the course of the match (i.e. no sitting out to allow the “hot hands” to play). Players who arrive late should be added to the end of the sequence and begin play at the appropriate time.

Only registered players may participate in the league play. Players competing are encouraged to come early and stay late to watch their friends or competing teams. However, players not currently competing should remain out of the immediate throwing area and dart lanes.

Teams will use Rock-Paper-Scissors to decide which team will throw first, winners choice.

Board Regulations

Game Play Numbers in Play: 20, 19, 18, 17, 16, 15, and Bullseye.

The objective shall be to "close" the above numbers on the dartboard and to achieve the highest point score. The team to do so first shall be the winner.

Three darts thrown in succession shall constitute a "turn". Each player on each team shall take turns throwing.

A dart thrown is a dart thrown, regardless of where it hits or bounces/falls to the floor. Darts that do not remain on the board (fall-off mid-play) at the end of a turn shall not be scored.

To close a number, the team must score/mark three of a number. This can be accomplished with three singles, a single and a double, or a triple. To close the bull’seye, the outer bull counts as a single, and the inner bull counts as a double.

It is legal to step on (but not across) the throwing line and to lean forward.

Once a team scores/marks three of a number, it is "owned" by that team. They may score points on that number until the opponent closes that number. The amount of points scored is dependent upon which part of the board is struck. The single bull’seye is worth 25 points and the double bull’s-eye is worth 50 points.

In the above scenario, numbers 20 and 18 are "closed". Team 1 "owns" number 17 and has marked one bull's-eye. Each team has scored one mark on number 19 and two marks on number 16. At this point in the match, Team 1 can score 17 points (added to the bottom total of 68) each time they hit number 17 (or 34 points in the case of a double, 51 in the case of a triple) until Team 2 closes 17.

All numerical scores shall be added to the previous balance. Once both teams have scored three of a number, it is "closed", and no further scoring can be accomplished on that number by either team. Numbers can be "owned" or "closed" in any order desired by the individual team. Calling your shot is not required.

***It shall be the responsibility of both teams to verify a score before a player removes their darts from the dartboard.

Scoreboards will be provided, but teams are also welcome to download a mobile scoring app.

*Most mobile scoring apps are available for free for iPhone and Android smartphones.

Winning The Match

1. The team that closes all numbers first and has the most points shall be declared the winner. (The match is over when the winning dart is thrown, regardless of which team began play.)

Example: Team A has 100 points. Team B has 50 points. Team A throws their second dart and it closes their last number. Team A immediately wins and the game ends. Do not keep playing until the other team closes all their numbers.

2. If both sides are tied on points, or have no points, the first team to close all numbers shall be the winner.

Example: Both Team A and Team B have 100 points. Team A throws their first dart and it closes their last number. Team A immediately wins.

3. If a team closes all numbers first, and is behind in points, they must continue to score on any numbers not closed by the other player/team until either the point deficit is made up or the opponent has also closed all numbers.

Example: Team A has zero points. Team B has 100 points. Team A closes all of their numbers. Team B has not closed the Number 17. The game is not over. Team A must continue to gain points by hitting the Number 17 until Team A has over 100 points, or Team B closes the Number 17.

4. If not complete after the 45 minute window, the team closer to first a) closing out and then b) having the most points will be declared winner. Point differentials still apply for seeding purposes.

Example: Time is called and Team A has 0 points but all of their numbers are closed except 17. Team B has 100 points, but has not closed 17 and 18. Even though Team B has more points, Team A has closed more numbers. Team A wins.

5. In case of a tie in the number of points closed, then “marks” on other numbers will be counted. In case of a tie in “marks,” the point value of those hits will be counted. In case of still a tie – the first team to strike a point on any regulation number wins.

6. If a team wins the game on points with a double bull's-eye, does that automatically count as 50 points? Not necessarily. While a double bull's-eye is normally worth 50 points, where that strike ends the game, it will only be worth a single, 25 point shot, if that is all that was needed. This is a new rule to align our scoring with most mobile scoring apps the league uses, which cuts off the double bull's-eye at 25 points in the above scenario. Obviously, if more than 25 points is needed to end the game, a double bull's-eye would count as 50 points.

Common Question: “So time was called and we won because we closed the most

numbers. What about points?”

The winning team “earns” the point differential if they have more points than the losing team.

If they have fewer points than the losing team, then they still get the W, but have “earned” zero points. This can result in a team winning games, but still having a score of 0. Winning the game is still the most important factor, points are second. Therefore even if your team lost and will earn zero points, it is important to accurately report your score to determine the winning team’s point differential.

Reporting Scores Each Captain (or their designated representative) should submit their team's score via the unique scoring link, sent each game day via email, immediately following their team's match. Scores are validated against the opposing team's submitted score then automatically published to the Team Standings page on our website.
