SLEEVES From here on we will be knitting the sleeves, two at a time, in the round, using 2 circular needles. In the total of 246sts you have now, each sleeve will be 50sts, front and back will be 73sts. We start by placing markers to defining the sleeves, back and front. Counting from the beginning marker (that is now the center of the back), place markers after 32sts, after 82 sts, after 155sts and after 205 sts (there will be 41 sts left before the initial marker). On the next row we will knit half of the back to get to the right sleeve. That is where we will pick up after finishing the sleeves, to continue the body. r50: knit 82 st. Place front and back sts in waste yarn (use the markers you placed before to know where you are). Separate the 50 sts of the right sleeve so you have 25sts on one set of circular needles and 25sts on another. With this second needle, k25sts of left sleeve, then with the first needle, k25 sts of the left sleeve. r51 - r79: k in the round with the two circular needles. r80: from this point on we will reduce 1st on the inside of each sleeve every 5 rows. Place a marker to the side you last reduced and alternate (reducing on st to alternate sides) so the sleeves are balanced. Right sleeve: k2tog, k48sts. Left sleeve: k48sts, k2tog (each sleeve: 49sts). r81 – r85: k in the round r86: Right sleeve: k47sts, k2tog. Left sleeve: k2tog, k47sts (each sleeve: 48sts). r87 – r91: k in the round r92: Right sleeve: k2tog, k46sts. Left sleeve: k46sts, k2tog (each sleeve: 47sts). r93 – r97: k in the round r98: Right sleeve: k45sts, k2tog. Left sleeve: k2tog, k45sts (each sleeve: 46sts). r105 – r109: k in the round r110: Right sleeve: k43sts, k2tog. Left sleeve: k2tog, k43sts (each sleeve: 44sts). r111: Reduce for cuff – k2, k2tog (34sts) r112 - r116: k1p1 Bind off sleeves in ribbing. Weave in ends.
BODY Pick up stitches at row 50 under the right sleeve and knit in the round 146 stitches. Under the arms you can either use a crochet hook and pick some stitches and cat them off, to make sure there isnʼt a gap, or you can go back with a tapestry needle in the end and close any visible gaps. Continue in the round until you reach desired length. I usually continue until I run out of yarn . Bottom ribbing: k1p1 for 4 rows with US6. Bind off in ribbing. Weave in ends.
BACK BUTTON Using a crochet hook, crocket a single chain starting at the corner of the opening. Make it as long as bneeded for your button and sew it onto itself on the inside of the jumper. Weave in ends.
Wash and block and give it to your little one!
