Other thoughts/tips:
Students are in Special Ed for a variety of reasons; some students struggle with learning, some struggle with behaviors, some have physical limitations, some have combinations of different disabilities. You may have another adult present in the c lassroom who is familiar with the students; USE them and their knowledge to help you instruct the class. You are their teacher for that period on that day. Please remember you are making an impact on their day and school year. The more you sub, the more comfortable the students will become with you.
