High Tensile Tensioning Bars HSA and HTSR tensioning bars are manufactured using specific industrial processes including heat treatment (quench & tempered) that ensures increased mechanical characteristics. The resulting ductility, tensile and yield strengths are greater than typical threaded bars (the bars may be bent 90 degrees at tight radii without fracture). Applications of HSA and HTSR tensioning bars include heavy lifting, lifting tie downs and structural connections where their greater yield strength allows for more compact solutions. HSA and HTSR tensioning bars are also well suited for structures subject to seismic loadings and possess excellent cold temperature properties.

Advantages HSA and HTSR tensioning bars present many advantages over typical tensioning bars: • Consistent mechanical properties throughout the entire cross section • Consistent Modulus of Elasticity for bars, with a tolerance of +/- 725 ksi (5 GPa) • Enhanced Fatigue Performance and Strength (success testing according to ETAG -013 in 30 up to 75mm) High Ductility • Guaranteed Resilience for cold temperature applications • Length between 1m and 15m (3.28 and 49.21 ft)

WIND TOWER SOLUTIONS Most onshore and offshore wind turbines are resting on a steel mast which is fixed to its concrete footing or a concrete tower by a prestressed connection composed of more than a hundred high strength bolts. Since turbines are getting taller and more powerful, loads transferred to the foundation through the prestressed connections are becoming greater and greater. Having extensive experience in prestressing systems, we have engineered a new range of prestressing bolts called HSA and HTSR which can meet the most stringent Wind Turbine requirements.

Advantages • High strength bolts reducing the number of bolts while transferring large loads • High pretension force to prevent connection decompression under fatigue loads • Accurate pretension force to control the opening of the prestressed connection under extreme conditions • Pretension force maintained over time thanks to low relaxation losses • Accurate bar individual stiffness to control the connection rotational stiffness • Good homogeneity regarding stiffness among bars to share evenly overloads • Resilience guaranteed We are able to offer an exclusive prestressed assembly system with Ultra High Performance resulting from a cutting edge manufacturing process which involves induction heat treatment with high accuracy. These rods are particularly recommended when wind parks are constructed under cold climates or in seismic areas. Two classes are available: class 10 upgraded (using the HSA+ rod) and class 12 upgraded (using the HTSR rod), both designed for a minimum temperature of -10°C at tensioning and a minimum operation temperature of -30°C. Flat or spherical nuts are available.

Quality Insurance Production of HSA and HTSR tensioning bars is carried out under a strict Quality Assurance System in compliance with ISO 9001: 2008. Each delivery is accompanied by a Certificate of Conformity 3.1 in compliance with the standard EN 10204 for each heat treatment lot. Each bar is individually marked with its heat treatment lot number.

Special Orders HSA and HTSR tensioning bars are available in maximum 49.21 ft (15m) lengths or may be pre-cut to specific lengths. Threads are provided at the ends with sufficient thread length to accommodate anchorage hardware, anticipated elongation, standard construction tolerances and as may be otherwise specified. HSA and HTSR tensioning bars can be manufactured to specific custom diameters up to 3.62 inches (92 mm) upon request.

Protection Permanent protection of the bars may be provided onsite through the use of flexible filler materials (petroleum wax, grease) or by means of a bonded filler material (cementitious grout, epoxy). The bars can also be provided with a factory applied corrosion protection system: • • • • •

Lamellar zinc coating Epoxy coating Specific paint Denso protection Heat-shrink sleeves.

Depending on specific project requirements, other corrosion protection systems may be proposed.
