THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW!
Community Letter Regarding Ensuring Student and Staff Safety A paper copy of our community letter went home with every student today. This letter explains and addresses the safety protocols and procedures that have already been in place, those that we have revised, and how we are actively ensuring the safety of all students and all staff during the school day. If you missed it or would just like an electronic version, click here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1DiHjuDveH-6Rx13IWlbceoTQP4PF6WQC/view? usp=sharing Additionally, officers from the DPS Department of Safety held two short assemblies for our 4th and 5th grade students yesterday. The presentations focused on the importance of students using the Safe-2-Tell tipline should they ever hear anything or see anything that may put students and staff in danger. Furthermore, the officers provided a reminder that school is a safe place and that students must ensure they are using 'safe' language at school. The officers reminded students that there is no place for threatening language of any type here at school and should a student use that type of language to report it immediately. Do you want to learn more about how DPS ensures school safety? Teller is hosting a Community Meeting about School Safety on March 19th. Nurses Office in Need of Extra Clothes! Our nurse is running low and nearly out of pants and underwear for all ages. When a student has an accident, the nurse provides a clean change of clothes for the day but often these clothes don't make it back! If you have anything to donate, they would greatly appreciate it! Leggings and stretchy pants are the best! Thank you!
Update on Snacks Being Sold in the Cafeteria Denver Public Schools made a conscious decision this year to allow students to eat school lunch regardless of their account standing. As a result of this decision, the district lost a substantial amount of money in negative lunch accounts. To recoup some of this money, DPS Food Services has rolled out a snack purchasing program at schools across the district. You may have noticed that your students’ lunch account has dwindled significantly faster than before and purchasing these snacks has potentially been the reason. These snacks are intended for students to be able to eat after school or in addition to their hot or packed lunches and include, chips, pickles, pretzels and some dessert items. It is possible to prevent your student from purchasing snacks by contacting our cafeteria manager Catrina Jones. She can be reached at
[email protected] or 720-424-3577.
