WHY HAVEN'T WE SEEN MONKEYS EVOLVE INTO HUMANS?
By Agnes Mkamburi
THE question assumes that ancestral forms must disappear as evolution takes place. This is not the case—species can often go millions of years with little in the way of change. If an ancestral form is well adapted to a particular set of conditions and these conditions do not change, then there is minimal selection pressure to drive evolution; this is what is really meant by "survival of the fittest": those who best "fit" in their environment. If a sub-population of this species migrates to a new habitat with new conditions (e.g., new food or a new predator) then selection pressure is placed upon it to evolve. As this sub-population evolves to fit a different set of environmental conditions, it may diversify enough to form a new species while the ancestral form stays relatively unchanged. But there's no rule that says the original species must go extinct to make way for the new one. www.atheistsinkenya.com
PROSTITUTION IS NOTHING MORE THAN WORK. TREAT IT THAT WAY!
By Lydia Rasugu
NO matter what job you do you are selling your body. You think in your brain which is in your body. You move around papers using your hands which is part of your body. You do professional sports, you are doing it with your body. No matter what job you have you need to use your body to do it. If someone has great skills having sex and they want to make money off of it then they should be allowed to do so. Not only that but some countries will actually have the government pay for prostitutes to visit nursing homes and I think that's a great idea. That can help make our elderly's golden years more golden. Sex work is work. It's no different from any another job. We don't need criminal law to control the sex industry.

THE GOD OF THE GAPS The human brain appears to be hardwired to find causes for any "effect" experienced in the world, from eerie sounds, to scary thunder, to terrifying ground shakes, and deadly diseases. By Immaculate Kemboi
The human brain appears to be hardwired to find causes for any "effect" experienced in the world, from eerie sounds, to scary thunder, to terrifying ground shakes, and deadly diseases. Early humans, just beginning to seek explanations for natural things they experienced in their world, found answers by saying those things were caused by gods, or other supernatural figures (like ghosts or witches); many early "gods" are storm gods (such as Thor) or gods of the wind (the kami, in Japan). The very act of birth was apparently seen as magical and godlike. But as humans explored more, they found naturalistic answers to simple things they once attributed to gods. As humans developed a simplified scientific method, more "gaps" were filled with naturalistic answers. God or the supernatural were no longer needed as an explanation for those items. And finally, as science took hold of humanity's quest to understand the world, each advance in scientific knowledge reduced the area where a divine power was necessary. We learned that earthquakes were shifts in the plates of the Earth's crust. Even things not yet proven can be shown to have likely or possible natural causes. For example, the discovery by astronomers of organic molecules in space revealed that life on Earth had a possible explanation that did not (necessarily) involve a creator god. www.atheistsinkenya.com
Gladys - Ex Catholic Email:

Ever since I was born, I have only known one faith. The Roman Catholic faith. I was born into a catholic family. I was baptized when I was so young, I cannot even remember how it was done. But I think I was given a Christian name. My mom used to wake me up every morning to recite the rosary before going to school. At other times, I had to recite the rosary before going to bed. I went through all the motions of catechism. Essentially, I grew up to become a typical catholic faithful.
quote of the week! Religion & god is for people that are scared to truly live their own
At some point, I asked my mom: Why must we pray through Mary, and not directly to God! She gave me an interesting answer: She told me that Mary, the mother of Jesus was closer to God and Jesus in the same way that mothers are generally closer to their sons. I questioned why we had so many religious sects purporting to worship the same God, with each believing that all the other religious sects are practicing the wrong faith.

WHY I LEFT THE ROMAN CATHOLIC FAITH!
I began observing that some of the people that I attended church with, people I believed in were in essence hypocrites. This presented a problem for me. I realized that the church leaders, together with some of my catholic friends were never quite 'God fearing'. This affected my attitude towards the church. I am still looking for the truth about God. If I get sufficient evidence that God exists, then I will probably go back to believing in God. I believe that people should not follow blindly what they are told. They should question anything that does not align with reason and logic.
