#1 the day i lost my job by Stoniepooh
Hey ya'll this is Stoniepooh infecting your mind once again. Today our story starts with the day i lost my job. I live and worked in Kingston Ontario, I worked for a company called Homestead Land Holdings as a Superintendent, I started working for them as a super on April 1, 2007. When I started working for them I had no superintendent experience, but my maintenance and customer service experience exceeds any other qualifications that I lacked, so in other words I was a great applicant. At the time I was desperate for work; when I took the job, I was running a small thirty unit building and made $86 every two weeks with my rent, cable, cell phone, gas and cleaning supplies all paid for..... ( this is where the fun starts ) with in the first two months they offered me three sets of townhouses with a total of 72 units and a thee bedroom townhouse to live in and all the same extras that they had been paying just under $300 every two weeks, about two months later; the guy they hired to work my old building Quit, being the hard working PERSON THAT I AM and always wanting to please, I contacted my boss and told him that I would watch the building until they found someone. Four months went by, Stoniepooh worked those four months with a smile on his face, no days off and no extra pay, remember that this was my choice. After the four months, they decided that they would give me two weeks off with pay to thank me for the hard work, they also offered me the building with an extra $250 every two weeks, bringing my pay to $550 every two weeks. ( I took it with a smile my face ) now I'm running the whole street - 72 townhouses and a 30 unit building by my self so they decided to hire an assistant to work part time just to relieve me on my days off, so because I was running a building with assistants my job title is Building manager and superintendent. Four months go by and they noticed that I was doing all the maintenance, so they decided to to take the whole street off of the maintenance mans roster and give it to me, making me the streets maintenance co-ordinator and an extra $380 every two weeks. Just to recap I'm now a Maintenace co-ordinator, a building manger and a superintendent making around $900 every two weeks. Not bad I was beginning to think that if you work hard; good things will come to you. I busted my fuckin ass for two years for this fuckin company, I was promoted four times before I even reached my first year, I have letters of references from my employers claiming how much of an asset I am to the company, before I started working on my buildings, which were located on Yonge st in Kingston, Yonge st was known for the violence, drugs and fighting, all the nasty shit no one wants to live with ( but no cockroaches LOL) it is clean and one of the most requested areas now, I was the busiest person that worked for the company and because of all my promotions I was believed to be one of the highest paid super............. On January 28th 2009 my property manager, my area manager and the human resource manager, came to my house to tell me that I'm a great worker and they appreciate everything that I have done for them but my service is no longer needed...AND YOU

Did they give you a reason why you were let go? I believe if you can go after them for wrongful dismissal. Giving you 7 days to move is also against the law. Take Care and Peace Marco

They paid me my severance pay (one month) two weeks for each year of service and gave me a letter of recomendation. Nothing I can do. Called the landlord and tenant act only to find that my residence there did not qualify as a "tenancy" but as a job benefit so they had no requirement for any notice at all. Hard to believe but true.

#8 That's too bad brother and thank you for the heads up...
That's why you have to take care of yourself and your family FIRST in this world. Believe me there are a bunch of idiots out there who don't give a shit about you or me or anyone else for that matter. No matter what's in the future always try and have all your ducks in order. And even then never be surprised at how mean people can actually be to one another, particularly employers. Just remember who your real friends are bro!!! P.S. It wqas nice to meet you at the Valentines day fundraiser...you seem to be a heads up guy. God Bless. __________________ GROWBIGWEEDINTWEED!!!

If the apartment you were living in was a taxable job benefit, then you were paying rent -- they were just taking it out of your paycheque before you saw it. P.S. Revenue Canada usually considers housing a taxable benefit. __________________ Be Well. Dai Bozhe! Kaplah! Last edited by groo : 3rd March 2009 at 10:00 AM.

#17 I'm happy to report...
that Stoniepooh has finally taken me up on an offer of residence here at my home. We will have to spend the first week trying to find room for his stuff and attempt to get my move in from Oct done to make room for his things in storage. He will now try to find work or re=training in this area and I am really hoping they fund some re=training for him. Now my three cats will have to get used to having that big husky around but I already love Mellow. Now if only I could get my hands on enough plywood to floor my attic and then there would be lots of room! welcome stoniepooh.....I and your TY family adore you!
