The ITC Construction Group Story ITC Construction Group has risen to become the largest multi-residential construction company in Western Canada from humble beginnings in 1983. This was a volatile time for the construction industry. A severe economic downturn, the cancellation of government grants for multi-family housing construction and mortgage interest rates of up to 20 per cent contributed to the instability however, this also gave the founders, Peter Rezansoff and Tony McGill an opportunity to sharpen their skills so as to be successful in down market conditions. The company quickly became an industry leader and ITC continues to be defined by its people, construction knowledge, methodology, and emphasis on safety and quality. Since that time, ITC, originally called Intertech, has completed more than 115 projects for both the public and private sector. The company got its start building multi-residential high rise apartments in Vancouver’s West End and has played an integral role in shaping the city into North America’s most livable and lived-in city. ITC has expanded into the Calgary market where it is the most active high-rise condominium builder in the city. ITC maintains a regional office in Calgary. ITC’s signature developments built in the Vancouver area include: West Pender Place, Millennium Water in the Olympic Village, the Woodward’s Redevelopment Project, Burns Block at 18 West Hastings, Bayshore Waterfront Redevelopment, Cornerstone at UniverCity for Simon Fraser University and SFU’s School for Contemporary Arts. Projects in downtown Calgary include Stella, Nova and Luna Towers as well as Louise Station. “We have always worked with our developer clients and the cities in which we build to find a solution to the many challenges to make the projects become a reality ,” says company cofounder Peter Rezansoff. ITC has been recognized as one of Canada’s 50 best managed companies for seven consecutive years, one of British Columbia’s top 100 companies and one of B.C.’s top three general contractors. Also the recipient of numerous awards such as the VRCA Landmark Award for the Woodward’s Project and Gold Award for Millennium Water in 2010 just to name a few. The company is also dedicated to giving back to communities through strong corporate social responsibility initiatives. These include support for BladeRunners, a program to mentor and train young people, giving trade opportunities to First Nations youth; providing Trade Scholarships to local Secondary Schools; the installation of playground equipment in Vancouver’s Strathcona community as well as supporting the Ronald McDonald House and various other community based organizations. After more than four decades in the construction business the time has come for Founders, Peter Rezansoff and Tony McGill to pass the torch while still providing advice and counsel to the company.
