THEME Rotary Fellowship

Congratulations PE Sophie on a great Installation function! 4 o'clock on Saturday 11th June marked the start of a colorful function. The chief guest Rtn Dr Louis and Rtn Edith Kasekende arrived spot on time; followed shortly afterwards by our special guest DGN Ken Mugisha, which was a great honor to us. The aim of the function was the smooth hand over of power from WCP Julie to PE Sophie as well as Rotaractor Sozi to Phillip Wamala; thus a joint Rotaract-Rotary installation. The function kicked off with the Rotary norms followed by a speech from the outgoing Rotaractor President Husein Sozi enumerating the successes achieved in the year. He handed over the reins to Rotaractor Enock Kajjoba, who promised to grow the club and revitalize it.

WCP Julie had a unique presentation where her core speech was in form of a documentary; she shared the developments on the ADOPT a Village Project at Makukuba. The club adopted a village project in Mukono district in 2014-16; where the nearest primary school was 5 km away from the village; a challenge for the young children to walk every day. In fact two children drowned as they crossed a stream during the rainy season. Parents had withdrawn many of the children from school, Rtcr. Hussein Ssozi handing over a certificate of appreciation increasing the number of children out of school. The to WCP Julie at the installation. club together with Children Safe Uganda, local NGO are building a primary school. She crowned off her speech with presentation of awards to club members who had excelled in moving the club forward. The installation was smooth, WCPs Sozi and Julie passing on the presidential chains on their own free will. Rtn Dr Kasekende performed the installation. Rotary Club of Kasangati has enjoyed the consecutive leadership of female presidents for the last 3 years. PE Sophie is the 4th female president in a row. In her acceptance speech Rtn Sophie pledged to move the club forward with the support of the All Star Team. She will lead the club into expanding the Adopt a Village project further. Rtn Dr Louis Kasekende commended RC Kasangati for reaching out to Makukuba and the commitment to service above self. His support to the club was evident from his presence at different times.

2Major Benfactors of the Makukuba Project; DGN Ken, Rtn Nareba(RCKololo) & Rtn

DGN Ken did what he does best by encouraging those present to support the club in making life better in the nine villages of Makukuba. Contributions were to the tune of 30 million Uganda Shillings. PE Sophie was supported by her family and neighbors who turned to grace the occasion.

On behalf of the organizing committee of PE Sophie, l would like to thank our chief guest Rtn Dr Kasekende for accepting to be part of us. To DGN Ken for his generosity as well as always being there for us. 3Members of PE Sophies Family
