Resin parts can be washed with soapy water to remove any oily residue from casting. It will improve its adherence to glue. Please visit FOA Forum to benefit from other customer’s experiences in building the FOA RC Tiger I Ausf.E (click on this link)
Gun Block Assembly Take both Part# 11, slide them into the 1 ½” PVC pipe (Part# 20), and the two Part# 2 should easily rest on the top and bottom of this assembly. Glue together. This is the Gun Block. Bring the large Mantlet Resin Inner Part# 1, and glue the gun block directly on the Mantlet, between the two holes. Fit the recoil cylinders before applying any glue.
Insert Part# 14 into the threaded part of Part# 10 Recoil Cylinders. Part# 14 will attach to the Breech, while the recoil cylinders will slide into the two holes on either sides of the Gun Block. NOTE: you can install a working recoil feature from this assembly with some simple modifications. The recoil cylinders cannot be glued in place without making WORKING cylinders. Just cut flush when the thread meet the cylinder, and drill a hole in the cylinder. Use a metal rod as a slider attached to the thread and inserted into the cylinder. Since the thread is a standard US thread, you could also replace with real threads and nuts.
The Breach will attach against the gun block and between the two recoil cylinder supports.
NOTE: if you want a WORKING breech, do not glue the Breech directly to the block, but use the Tiger I kit ¾” PVC pipe, and slide it from the mantlet hole to the breech hole. It is the way it will freely slide like the real gun
The breech block will slide from under the breech and can be opened or closed. To mount the breech assembly to the Tiger I ABS turret, Part# 6 & 7 Left and Right Sides should be installed on either sides of the Inner Mantlet, and Part# 16 rotating cylinders will provide the up/down movement of the mantlet/breech. In the NEW Tiger I ABS Turret, the holes have to be drilled on either side. Measure carefully before drilling.
Assemble the ammunition chute shield from Part# 5, 8, 9 and 17. Part# 5 will glue on the edge of right side of the Gun Block, while Part# 17 will be on the left side. Position first the elevation gear on the lower left side of the gun block. Part# 17 should be on TOP of the elevation gear
We are posting some final pictures from this Breech assembly, inside an ABS Tiger I turret (now sold without the stowage bin): NOTE: The MG-34 assembly and TFZ-9b are showing on the picture. The TFZ-9b dual optics on this picture is an old design, and FOA currently offers a more detailed kit.
