Local Community Coordinator, Tergar Madison The Tergar Meditation Community of Madison, Wisconsin (TMAD) is a part of Tergar International (TI), an international group of centers and practice groups. The Tergar Meditation Community supports individuals, practice groups and meditation communities around the world in learning to live with awareness, compassion and wisdom. Grounded in the Tibetan Buddhist lineage of Yongey Mingyur Rinpoche, our programs are accessible to people of all cultures and faiths, and support a lifelong path toward the application of these principles in everyday life. TMAD is seeking a Community Coordinator to support the Tergar Meditation Community of Madison, Wisconsin. We are seeking an individual who has an established meditation practice and a sincere interest in the mission and values of the Tergar community. The Local Community Coordinator works with the Tergar Madison (TMAD) board and committees to plan, promote and coordinate local Tergar events and programs, as well as related volunteer, communication and fundraising activities, and represents the Tergar Madison community in a variety of public and private settings in various capacities. An employee of Tergar International (TI), this position is located in Madison, Wisconsin and receives day-to-day direction from the TMAD board, and organizational support from TI’s Marketing and Communication Manager and Community Support Manager.
Primary Responsibilities ●
Events - Coordinates promotion, planning and leadership of local events and programs with TMAD board and committees and TI staff
●
Volunteerism - Coordinates recruitment, training and management of volunteer support for all activities, with TMAD board and committees
●
Committees - Chair the Operations committee, member of the Strategy committee, member of the Fundraising committee and report as needed to the TMAD board; Provide administrative support as needed to these and other TMAD committees
●
Community Building and Fundraising - Coordinates planning and leadership of local community building and fundraising activities, with TMAD board and committees and TI staff
●
Budget - Coordinates planning, approval and regular reporting and review of local operating budget, with TMAD board and committees and TI finance staff
●
Center Operations - Coordinates local leases and service contracts, with support and
oversight from TI finance and administrative staff; Day to day event management of our local center, including overseeing upkeep of community space, setup and take-down for events, security, relationship with the landlord and neighbors
Desired Qualifications & Experience ●
Familiarity with and practice of meditation or related contemplative practices

Ability to work with a broad range of people
●
Relevant experience planning and managing events and programs
●
Relevant experience recruiting, training and supporting volunteers
●
Relevant experience supporting a community board and committees
●
Relevant experience with nonprofit financial planning, fundraising and reporting
●
Competence with TI information systems: Google Calendar & Email; Neon CRM, Box, Smartsheet, QuickBooks Online, MailChimp, Constant Contact
