2}id at new Delhi under the banner of joint platformof all the Central Trade Unionsof the countryalongwith independentnationalfederations/organizations from all the sectorsand service establishmentsexpresseddeep concern at the unilateral move to amend the labour laws by a numberof state governmentsand by the CentralGovt. Mogt of the amendmentssought to be done will have serious negativeimpact on the working conditionsincludingtrade union rights of the workers and the employees.ln spite of the assurancegiven by the L.abour Ministerthat Central Trade Unions will be consulted, these amendmentsin labourlaws are beingpushedthroughwithoutany consultations with them. The Conventionnotedthat all amendmentswill straightwayempowerand encouragethe state governmentsto bringaboutpro-employerchangesin labour laws as per the Rajasthanmodel. The processof amendmentsin labourlaws is alsoaimedto do awaywith tripartiteconsultationmechanism. ln essence, all moves of amendmentsin the labour laws are aim6d at empoweringthe employers to retrenchllay off workers or declare closure/shut down at will and also resort to mass scale contractorisation. These are hlso designedto push out more than seventyper cent of the industrialand service establishments in the countryand their workersout of the purviewof almostall labourlaws, therebyallowingthe employersa free hand to furthersqueezeand exploitthe workers. The Conventionnoted with utter dismay that the presentgovernmentis also continuingto ignorethe ten pointdemandsof entiretrade unionmovement pertainingto concreteactionto be takenfor containingprice-riseand aggravating unemploymentsituation, for strict implementation of labour laws, haltingmass scaleunlaMul cordractorisation, ensuringminimumwages for all of not less than Rs 15000 per month and universalsocial securitybenefitsand pensionfor all includingthe unorganizedsector workers etc. The demands also include compulsoryregistrationof Trade Unionswithin 45 days and ratificationof ILO Conventions 87 and g8. The NationalConventionalso denouncedthe retrogrademoveof the Govt in hiking/allowing FDI in Defencesector,Insurance,Railwaysand other sectors and also its aggressivemovefor disinvestment in PSUsincludingfinancialsector which will be detrimentalto the interestsof the national eobnomy, national eaat
