Global Social Internship Program Rooted in Jesuit values, the Global Social Internship Program provides undergraduate students with a transformative platform to engage in service learning through an internship opportunity in Central America. Students complete a five-week business internship in Nicaragua with the Fabretto Children’s Foundation, a nonprofit that empowers underserved children and their families in Nicaragua through education and nutrition. Internship activities include projects such as teaching the fundamentals of business to high school students and helping them identify business opportunities in their communities. Interns also work with school administrators to help improve the business curriculum, focusing on management and entrepreneurship. Participants will receive a stipend of $2,500 and free housing for the duration of the internship.

Most programs are completed during the third year of study and include options for fall semester, spring semester, full academic year, or summer programs.

Global Business Experience The Global Business Experience is a three-credit, semester-long class that integrates business disciplines with international policy and consulting. In this course, students conduct a substantive consulting project for an international business or organization (private, public, or nonprofit). Under faculty supervision, students work together to address the organization’s unique, complex business challenges. In addition, students interact with the policy community through visits

to organizations such as the International Monetary Fund, the World Bank, and the Spanish Embassy. The project culminates in a weeklong trip to the client location, where students present their findings and recommendations to senior management. The Global Business Experience course also counts as an elective for the International Business major.

SUMMER PROGRAMS FOR INTERNATIONAL PARTNERS Every summer, the McDonough School of Business hosts short-term programs for Italian students from Università Bocconi and Chinese students from Beijing’s Central University of Economics and Business. The program includes three distinct elements: INTERDISCIPLINARY CURRICULUM The program teaches fundamental principles of business with required coursework in international affairs, economics, and languages. This combination of courses enables students to conceptualize and solve challenges that impact business and public policy on a global scale. GLOBAL BUSINESS EXPERIENCE The capstone of the Global Business Fellows Program is our Global Business Experience course, in which students partner with a multinational organization on a consulting project to address the client’s business challenges. The course culminates in a weeklong, international trip to present recommendations to senior management in the client organization.

MCDONOUGH GLOBAL STUDENT ASSOCIATION To support international students, the McDonough Global Student Association (MGSA) — a student-run club — was established in 2011. Global Social Internship Program Rooted in Jesuit values, the Global Social Internship Program provides undergraduate students with a transformative platform to engage in service learning through an internship opportunity in Central America. Students complete a five-week business internship in Nicaragua with the Fabretto Children’s Foundation, a nonprofit that empowers underserved children and their families in Nicaragua through education and nutrition. Internship activities include projects such as teaching the fundamentals of business to high school students and helping them identify business opportunities in their communities. Interns also work with school administrators to help improve the business curriculum, focusing on management and entrepreneurship. Participants will receive a stipend of $2,500 and free housing for the duration of the internship.

Additional Global Opportunities STUDY ABROAD Through Georgetown’s Office of Global Education, McDonough students have numerous opportunities for study abroad at more than 75 universities and colleges in 40 countries. Most programs are completed during the third year of study and include options for fall semester, spring semester, full academic year, or summer programs.

Global Business Experience The Global Business Experience is a three-credit, semester-long class that integrates business disciplines with international policy and consulting. In this course, students conduct a substantive consulting project for an international business or organization (private, public, or nonprofit). Under faculty supervision, students work together to address the organization’s unique, complex business challenges. In addition, students interact with the policy community through visits

to organizations such as the International Monetary Fund, the World Bank, and the Spanish Embassy. The project culminates in a weeklong trip to the client location, where students present their findings and recommendations to senior management. The Global Business Experience course also counts as an elective for the International Business major.
