2015 North Central Student Conference Conference Attendee Registration Send information no later than February 16, 2015 Each conference attendee (students and faculty) must pre-register for the event. Individual costs are described below. Individual Registration: $15 per person Individual registration costs go towards the following items:  Thursday night snacks  Friday light breakfast  Friday lunch  Conference program & name badge  Conference t-shirt  Parking fees Conference Banquet: $25 per person Raceday Lunch: $10 per person

Late Registration Any registrations postmarked after February 16, 2015 must pay a late registration fee of $100. Any students, faculty, or friends that arrive at the conference without pre-registering must pay the late registration fee at check-in. Late payment will only be accepted as a check.

2015 North Central Student Conference Competition Updates Concrete Canoe Please note that all Requests for Information (RFIs) are posted to the ASCE National Concrete Canoe Competition’s Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/ASCENCCC). This competition is directed by the NCCC (National Concrete Canoe Competition). Rules for this competition are defined in the rules released by this organization. Per the NCCC, for the Conference Competitions, each school shall provide five (5) bound copies of the Design Paper and five (5) compact discs (CD) of electronic copies of the Design Paper and the Engineer’s Notebook. The electronic copy of the Design Paper and Notebook shall be provided as separate documents in PDF format and copied onto the CD. The Concrete Mixture Design Tables are to be provided in Microsoft Excel™ format. A copy of the Design Paper shall also be provided in a document file of the word processing program used (such as Microsoft Word™, Microsoft Publisher™, etc.). The files shall not to be password protected. The electronic submission shall be considered the official and final version of both the Design Paper and Engineer’s Notebook. The hard copies and electronic submission (CDs) of the Design Paper and Engineer’s Notebook, as outlined above, must be received by the date specified by the conference host school or be subject to penalties. Papers must be submitted via standard mail to the following address: ASCE Conference Dept. of Civil Engineering The University of Toledo 2801 W. Bancroft St., MS 307 Toledo, OH 43606-3390 Regarding the associated presentation:  No early submission of the presentation is required.  Each team is responsible for bringing their presentation to their assigned presentation time.  Acceptable transportation formats include CD and USB Jump Drive. (Please do not email to yourself or store on the “cloud”. This is for the sake of saving time between presentations)  In addition, laptops can also be connected to the system. However, we suggest having a back-up in case of technical difficulties.  The computer provided for presentations will be equipped with Microsoft Powerpoint.

2015 North Central Student Conference Competition Updates Steel Bridge Please note that all Requests for Information (RFIs) are posted to the AISC website (https://www.aisc.org/content.aspx?id=3232). The flooring protection used by Savage Arena is carpet tiling (see below image). Please plan accordingly when discussing what you plan to wear during the competition. We recommend that team members wear either long pants or knee pads to minimize your risk of injury in addition to the PPE required for the event.

2015 North Central Student Conference Competition Updates Technical Paper This competition is directed by The University of Toledo and the paper topic can be found as part of Mailer I in the original mailer your chapter was sent. Papers shall be submitted electronically. One (1) electronic copy of the paper shall be emailed to [email protected] no later than Sunday, March 1, 2015 at 11:59pm. The University of Toledo shall be responsible for distributing copies of the paper:  To the judges, with one copy serving as the backup copy.  These papers shall be distributed/printed in the “as received” format.  No modifications shall be made by the host school.  To guarantee proper formatting upon printing, a .pdf format is recommended. Regarding the associated presentation:  Each team is responsible for bringing their presentation to their assigned presentation time.  Acceptable transportation formats include CD and USB Jump Drive. Miscellaneous Competitions Concrete Bowling A mix table shall be submitted electronically. One (1) electronic copy of the paper shall be emailed to [email protected] no later than Sunday, March 1, 2015 at 11:59pm. It is recommended that the mix table is submitted as a PDF to ensure proper formatting when printed.

Email Attachments If you did not receive the email containing your schools registration spreadsheet, please email [email protected] as soon as possible. The attendee spreadsheet (electronic) is also due February 16th, in addition to the cost sheet and applicable fees. Also included in the email attachments are the region’s constitution, 2014 business meeting notes, and a proposal by Michigan State University to change Article VI per discussion at last year’s business meeting. If you have any recommendations or amendments to the region’s constitution, please email them to [email protected] no later than February 23, 2015 so that they can be included as an attachment to Mailer III. All proposals for updates to the constitution will be sent by March 1, 2015 so that schools have the opportunities to discuss potential updates internally before discussing the proposed updates at the business meeting.
