New York Art Residency & Studios Foundation

2016 SEASON I & II (January - June) INTERNATIONAL ARTIST RESIDENCY PROGRAM APPLICATION GUIDELINES For U.S.-BASED APPLICANTS Only The NARS Foundation International Artist Residency Program provides national and international artists with the opportunity to produce new work while engaging with the vibrant arts community in New York City. Artists-inresidence have 24/7 access to NARS facilities including an individual studio space ranging in size from 280 sq. ft. to 325 sq. ft. in our diverse artist community in Sunset Park, Brooklyn and various professional development programs. As a studio based residency, the focus is on practice within the studio and the experimentation and exploration that results from creating new work. Residency artists benefit from our community driven program and the ongoing dialogue between fellow residency artists and also have the advantage of working alongside emerging and established NYC based artists in our studio facilities. Residents have an opportunity to share and present their work through artist talks, workshops, and lectures and receive studio visits by prominent New York City curators, critics and gallerists. Connections formed during studio visits have resulted in future exhibition opportunities and collaborations for artists after they have finished their residency at NARS. The residency program culminates in a group exhibition at the NARS Foundation Gallery and/or an Open Studio event that is open to the general public. The NARS Foundation continues to promote Residency Alumni once the residency program has been completed through social media and the NARS website. Future exhibitions will also be hosted offsite which will include work by current Residents and Alumni.
