General Guidelines The Anne Chesnutt High School Alumni Association was founded December 1977. The goal of the association was to foster leadership, scholarship, family and church activity, which were so evident during the school's 1939 to 1969 history. Over the short existence of the association, graduates, students, parents, and teachers of the Anne Chesnutt Family have enthusiastically supported the scholarship program and its goals. Through the combined efforts, the association offers financial assistance to deserving minority high school seniors who desire achieve academic excellence at an institution of higher learning. Criteria To qualify and receive a scholarship, the applicant must: 1. Be a recent high school graduate 2. Be accepted by an institution of higher learning 3. Provide the following three (3) references: a school official, a community leader, and a personal acquaintance. 4. Submit an essay of 250-350 words to include: (a) Attributes that you believe make you the best candidate for the award (b) Contributions made to the community and others to promote scholarship and planned contributions once the degree is earned (c) Information regarding honors, memberships, and extracurricular activities (d)Membership in organizations including offices held, honors, prizes, and awards (e)Participation in sports (f) Documented financial hardship, if any

School and Community Activities On a separate sheet, please provide a 250 to 350-word essay, which includes attributes that you believe, makes you the best candidate. Include your extra-curricular activities that describe special honors, club memberships (office held), sports, community and religious activities, hobbies, interest, talents, employment and other activities involved in. Also describe planned contributions once the degree is earned. Document any financial hardships. Please attach a high school transcript of a minimum of your last two years, your guidance counselors name, a current photo and a three recommendations; one by a school official, one by someone in your community and a personal reference.
