The Book of Revelation is Describing the Third “Transitional Generation” A. A transitional generation one that witnesses mankind’s relationship with God take a major step forward into the restoration of Genesis 1:31 B. Genesis 1 is describing the reality mankind was meant to live in: i. Man living in the light of Jesus’ glory ii. Man having access to God’s presence (throne) in a “garden,” the root meaning of the word Garden in Genesis 1: (Strong’ , gaw-nan', A primitive root; to hedge about, that is, (generally) protect: - defend. iii. Mankind living in perfect abundance of provision and the delight of partnership in God’s government and a role in the extension of God’s creation. C. At the time of the fall, God’s presence was blocked and guarded by angels:

1 Genesis 3:24 So He drove out the man; and He placed cherubim at the east of the garden of Eden, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to guard the way to the tree of life. D. Cherubim are one of two kinds of living creatures, the other being “Seraphim” Cherubim have distinct features: i. Under the sea of glass or “sapphire pavement” ii. Four wings iii. Four faces 2 Ezekiel 10:1 And I looked, and there in the firmament that was above the head of the cherubim, there appeared something like a sapphire stone, having the appearance of the likeness of a throne. 3 Ezekiel 1:4-7 Then I looked, and behold, a whirlwind was coming out of the north, a great cloud with raging fire engulfing itself; and brightness was all around it and radiating out of its midst like the color of amber, out of the midst of the fire. 5 Also from within it came the likeness of four living creatures. And this was their appearance: they had the likeness of a man. 6 Each one had four faces, and each one had four wings. 7 Their legs were straight, and the soles of their feet were like the soles of calves' feet. They sparkled like the color of burnished bronze. E. The “Garden”, or defense, or hedged about place, is a part of the Mountain of God, also called God’s City, the New Jerusalem. 4 Isaiah 14:12-13 "How you are fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! How you are cut down to the ground, You who weakened the nations! 13 For you have said in your heart: 'I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God; I will also sit on the mount of the congregation On the farthest sides of the north; 5 Ezekiel 28:13-14 You were in Eden, the garden of God; Every precious stone was your covering: The sardius, topaz, and diamond, Beryl, onyx, and jasper, Sapphire, turquoise, and emerald with gold. The workmanship of your timbrels and pipes Was prepared for you on the day you were created. 14 "You were the anointed cherub who covers; I established you; You were on the holy mountain of God; You walked back and forth in the midst of fiery stones.

F. God’s throne is at the top of the New Jerusalem G. Each Transitional Generation has taken an advance on earth back toward: the place of God’s presence (throne), abiding under God’s leadership, and the manifestation of God’s Government back on earth. i. Transition 1 - Generation of the Moses 1. Israel Given the Land of Canaan (transformed into Land of Israel) 2. Tabernacle Constructed (replica of the throne room in heaven) 3. Law Given 4. Open heaven around Israelites (pillar of fire, sea split, manna, etc) at the desire of God 6 Exodus 25:8-9, 19-20 And let them make Me a sanctuary, that I may dwell among them. 9 According to all that I show you, that is, the pattern of the tabernacle and the pattern of all its furnishings, just so you shall make it. 19 Make one cherub at one end, and the other cherub at the other end; you shall make the cherubim at the two ends of it of one piece with the mercy seat. 20 And the cherubim shall stretch out their wings above, covering the mercy seat with their wings, and they shall face one another; the faces of the cherubim shall be toward the mercy seat. ii. Transition 2 – Generation of Jesus (*David was a forerunner of this generation, Jesus is called a “Son of David”) 1. Disciples given a mandate to invite the whole earth into God’s presence 2. Tabernacle of David is raised up in a global context (worship order of the throne room in heaven executed 3. Holy Spirit (author of the law) given as a personal helper 4. Veil in the Spirit rent in two 5. Open heaven momentarily in Jerusalem and then around the disciples as they desired, by the Spirit (miracles, signs, wonders) 7 Acts 1:8 But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth." 8 Acts 15:15-19 And with this the words of the prophets agree, just as it is written: 16 'AFTER THIS I WILL RETURN AND WILL REBUILD THE TABERNACLE OF DAVID, WHICH HAS FALLEN DOWN; I WILL REBUILD ITS RUINS, AND I WILL SET IT UP; 17 SO THAT THE REST OF MANKIND MAY SEEK THE LORD, EVEN ALL THE GENTILES WHO ARE CALLED BY MY NAME, SAYS THE LORD WHO DOES ALL THESE THINGS.' 18 "Known to God from eternity are all His works. 19 Therefore I judge that we should not trouble those from among the Gentiles who are turning to God, iii. Transition 3 – Revelation Generation (Generation of Jacob) 1. The third transitional generation will experience a fulfillment of all that has been progressing through the previous two. Revelation = Exodus+Acts, on a global level 2. Those will ascend “God’s Hill” by fulfilling the law in the Spirit “poured out” 3. Tabernacle of David will go into global operation, and global harvest 2|Page

Heaven will permanently open (veil removed between heaven and earth) 9 Psalms 24:1-7 A Psalm of David. The earth is the LORD's, and all its fullness, The world and those who dwell therein. 2 For He has founded it upon the seas, And established it upon the waters. 3 Who may ascend into the hill of the LORD? Or who may stand in His holy place? 4 He who has clean hands and a pure heart, Who has not lifted up his soul to an idol, Nor sworn deceitfully. 5 He shall receive blessing from the LORD, And righteousness from the God of his salvation. 6 This is Jacob, the generation of those who seek Him, Who seek Your face. Selah 7 Lift up your heads, O you gates! And be lifted up, you everlasting doors! And the King of glory shall come in. 10 Amos 9:9-12 "For surely I will command, And will sift the house of Israel among all nations, As grain is sifted in a sieve; Yet not the smallest grain shall fall to the ground. 10 All the sinners of My people shall die by the sword, Who say, 'The calamity shall not overtake nor confront us.' 11 "On that day I will raise up The tabernacle of David, which has fallen down, And repair its damages; I will raise up its ruins, And rebuild it as in the days of old; 12 That they may possess the remnant of Edom, And all the Gentiles who are called by My name," Says the LORD who does this thing. II. Satan Increasingly Resists each Transitional Generation A. Every transitional generation has some very similar characteristics: i. Heaven opens (the veil between heaven and earth is removed) in a unique way ii. A portion of the generation that will not move forward into what God is doing (falling away) wars against those going forward in God iii. God protects those who agree with Him to “make a difference” between those in agreement and those rebelling against His plans 11 Exodus 14:23-27 And the Egyptians pursued and went after them into the midst of the sea, all Pharaoh's horses, his chariots, and his horsemen. 24 Now it came to pass, in the morning watch, that the LORD looked down upon the army of the Egyptians through the pillar of fire and cloud, and He troubled the army of the Egyptians. 25 And He took off their chariot wheels, so that they drove them with difficulty; and the Egyptians said, "Let us flee from the face of Israel, for the LORD fights for them against the Egyptians." 26 Then the LORD said to Moses, "Stretch out your hand over the sea, that the waters may come back upon the Egyptians, on their chariots, and on their horsemen." 27 And Moses stretched out his hand over the sea; and when the morning appeared, the sea returned to its full depth, while the Egyptians were fleeing into it. So the LORD overthrew the Egyptians in the midst of the sea. 12 Acts 5:28-39 saying, "Did we not strictly command you not to teach in this name? And look, you have filled Jerusalem with your doctrine, and intend to bring this Man's blood on us!" 29 But Peter and the other apostles answered and said: "We ought to obey God rather than men. 30 The God of our fathers raised up Jesus whom you murdered by hanging on a tree. 31 Him God has exalted to His right hand to be Prince and Savior, to give repentance to Israel and forgiveness of sins. 32 And we are His witnesses to these things, and so also is the Holy Spirit whom God has given to those who obey Him." 33 When they heard this, they were furious and plotted to kill them. 34 Then one in the council stood up, a Pharisee named Gamaliel, a teacher of the law held in respect by all the people, and commanded them to put the apostles outside for a little while. 35 And he said to them: "Men of Israel, take heed to yourselves what you intend to do regarding these men. 36 For some time ago Theudas rose up, claiming to be somebody. A number of men, about four hundred, joined him. He was slain, and all who obeyed 3|Page

He also perished, and all who obeyed him were dispersed. 38 And now I say to you, keep away from these men and let them alone; for if this plan or this work is of men, it will come to nothing; 39 but if it is of God, you cannot overthrow it--lest you even be found to fight against God." B. Because satan is losing his grip on the earth, through the antichrist and false prophet, he will attempt to keep as many people as possible from drawing near to God’s throne (praying night and day for it to come): 13 Revelation 13:6 Then he opened his mouth in blasphemy against God, to blaspheme His name, His tabernacle, and those who dwell in heaven. C. In the third transitional generation, those who “fall away” from fundamental loyalty to Jesus by not respond to the warnings to the Seven Churches in Revelation 2 and 3 will join with those who desire to kill those who stay loyal to Jesus. D. The Harlot will try to kill the true Bride, but this will PURIFY the Bride: 14 Daniel 11:32-35 Those who do wickedly against the covenant he shall corrupt with flattery; but the people who know their God shall be strong, and carry out great exploits. 33 And those of the people who understand shall instruct many; yet for many days they shall fall by sword and flame, by captivity and plundering. 34 Now when they fall, they shall be aided with a little help; but many shall join with them by intrigue. 35 And some of those of understanding shall fall, to refine them, purify them, and make them white, until the time of the end; because it is still for the appointed time. 15 Revelation 17:3-6 So he carried me away in the Spirit into the wilderness. And I saw a woman sitting on a scarlet beast which was full of names of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns. 4 The woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet, and adorned with gold and precious stones and pearls, having in her hand a golden cup full of abominations and the filthiness of her fornication. 5 And on her forehead a name was written: MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND OF THE ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH. 6 I saw the woman, drunk with the blood of the saints and with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus. And when I saw her, I marveled with great amazement. 16 John 16:1-3 "These things I have spoken to you, that you should not be made to stumble. 2 They will put you out of the synagogues; yes, the time is coming that whoever kills you will think that he offers God service. 3 And these things they will do to you because they have not known the Father nor Me. E. It is ESSENTIAL to understand this aspect of Jesus’ return. This will cause great offense and an increase in the falling away as the Great Tribulation nears. 17 Matthew 24:8-13 All these are the beginning of sorrows. 9 "Then they will deliver you up to tribulation and kill you, and you will be hated by all nations for My name's sake. 10 And then many will be offended, will betray one another, and will hate one another. 11 Then many false prophets will rise up and deceive many. 12 And because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold. 13 But he who endures to the end shall be saved. 4|Page

III. The Throne Room – An Invitation Into the Secret Counsel of the Father A. Chapter 4 of Revelation describes the real “holy of holies”, and is literally, the “holy of holies” in the Bible itself. B. Greater than WHAT Revelation 4 describes, is the invitation and instruction for how to engage with WHO it describes. C. Revelation 4 is INVITING us UP, not just describing what is there D. This requires we exercise our “Holy Imagination.” Setting our eyes on the things above: 18 Colossians 3:1-4 If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God. (2) Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth. (3) For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. (4) When Christ who is our life appears, then you also will appear with Him in glory. E. We “go where we are looking.” Revelation 4 is the final Chapter in the process of “beholding and becoming.” Jesus led the Church through Revelation 2 and 3 to behold Him so that He could prepare us for Revelation 4: Beholding the Father. 19 Revelation 4:1-11 After these things I looked, and behold, a door standing open in heaven. And the first voice which I heard was like a trumpet speaking with me, saying, "Come up here, and I will show you things which must take place after this." (2) Immediately I was in the Spirit; and behold, a throne set in heaven, and One sat on the throne. (3) And He who sat there was like a jasper and a sardius stone in appearance; and there was a rainbow around the throne, in appearance like an emerald. F. There is MUCH more happening here than John describes. Every feature John describes is full of insight to convey the things God desires for us to know (Like Rev 2 and 3, where Jesus picks out specific attributes). G. This is the place of PREPARATION FOR END TIME SAFETY David was crying out for In Psalm 27:4. 20 Psalms 27:3-5 Though an army may encamp against me, My heart shall not fear; Though war may rise against me, In this I will be confident. 4 One thing I have desired of the LORD, That will I seek: That I may dwell in the house of the LORD All the days of my life, To behold the beauty of the LORD, And to inquire in His temple. 5 For in the time of trouble He shall hide me in His pavilion; In the secret place of His tabernacle He shall hide me; He shall set me high upon a rock. H. The Father is infinitely bright. I. Jasper of ancient times was a bright clear diamond-like stone Ancient sardius is bright clear ruby red. This describes a fiery red light. J. The emerald rainbow around God’s throne = Mercy, Life. K. God is a consuming fire that consumes darkness to increase life L. Every event that touches a believer’s life is the results of God’s intense desire filtered through His mercy. M. The burning bush (Exodus 3:2-3) is a picture of this same reality of God: consuming fire who brings life. 5|Page

The “burning bush” aspect of God’s relating to mankind is being depicted in Revelation 4. O. The burning bush experience was where Moses received divine revelation of DELIVERANCE STRATEGY for all of God’s people: 21 Exodus 3:1-12 Now Moses was tending the flock of Jethro his father-in-law, the priest of Midian. And he led the flock to the back of the desert, and came to Horeb, the mountain of God. 2 And the Angel of the LORD appeared to him in a flame of fire from the midst of a bush. So he looked, and behold, the bush was burning with fire, but the bush was not consumed. 3 Then Moses said, "I will now turn aside and see this great sight, why the bush does not burn." 4 So when the LORD saw that he turned aside to look, God called to him from the midst of the bush and said, "Moses, Moses!" And he said, "Here I am." 5 Then He said, "Do not draw near this place. Take your sandals off your feet, for the place where you stand is holy ground." 6 Moreover He said, "I am the God of your father--the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob." And Moses hid his face, for he was afraid to look upon God. 7 And the LORD said: "I have surely seen the oppression of My people who are in Egypt, and have heard their cry because of their taskmasters, for I know their sorrows. 8 So I have come down to deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians, and to bring them up from that land to a good and large land, to a land flowing with milk and honey, to the place of the Canaanites and the Hittites and the Amorites and the Perizzites and the Hivites and the Jebusites. 9 Now therefore, behold, the cry of the children of Israel has come to Me, and I have also seen the oppression with which the Egyptians oppress them. 10 Come now, therefore, and I will send you to Pharaoh that you may bring My people, the children of Israel, out of Egypt." 11 But Moses said to God, "Who am I that I should go to Pharaoh, and that I should bring the children of Israel out of Egypt?" 12 So He said, "I will certainly be with you. And this shall be a sign to you that I have sent you: When you have brought the people out of Egypt, you shall serve God on this mountain." 22 Exodus 4:21 And the LORD said to Moses, "When you go back to Egypt, see that you do all those wonders before Pharaoh which I have put in your hand. But I will harden his heart, so that he will not let the people go. IV. How the Throne Room Works – David’s Key A. Revelation 4 is giving us instruction in how to partner with angels to get divine insight into deliverance and the unfolding of our partnership in the plan for redemption. This happens in a reach FOR the Father 23 Daniel 10:12-13 Then he said to me, "Do not fear, Daniel, for from the first day that you set your heart to understand, and to humble yourself before your God, your words were heard; and I have come because of your words. 13 But the prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me twenty-one days; and behold, Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me, for I had been left alone there with the kings of Persia. 24 Revelation 4:4-11(4) Around the throne were twenty-four thrones, and on the thrones I saw twenty-four elders sitting, clothed in white robes; and they had crowns of gold on their heads. (5) And from the throne proceeded lightnings, thunderings, and voices. Seven lamps of fire were burning before the throne, which are the seven Spirits of God. (6) Before the throne there was a sea of glass, like crystal. And in the midst of the throne, and around the throne, were four living creatures full of eyes in 6|Page

(7) The first living creature was like a lion, the second living creature like a calf, the third living creature had a face like a man, and the fourth living creature was like a flying eagle. (8) The four living creatures, each having six wings, were full of eyes around and within. And they do not rest day or night, saying: "Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty, Who was and is and is to come!" (9) Whenever the living creatures give glory and honor and thanks to Him who sits on the throne, who lives forever and ever, (10) the twenty-four elders fall down before Him who sits on the throne and worship Him who lives forever and ever, and cast their crowns before the throne, saying: (11) "You are worthy, O Lord, To receive glory and honor and power; For You created all things, And by Your will they exist and were created." B. Revelation 4 depicts the divine partnership between those who desire to be governmental leaders in Jesus’ coming kingdom, angels, and God (Father, Son, and Spirit) C. People = Elders with Crowns (Philippians 4:1, 2 Timothy 4:8, 1 Peter 5:4, Revelation 2:10)…crowns are for people who are redeemed. The elders are people. 24 elders = one over each hour of worship. 25 1 Corinthians 9:25 And everyone who competes for the prize is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a perishable crown, but we for an imperishable crown. D. God is show as active and ready to release His voice and His power in the presence of people. Revelation 4:5 And from the throne proceeded lightnings, thunderings, and voices. Seven lamps of fire were burning before the throne, which are the seven Spirits of God. 26 John 12:28-30 Father, glorify Your name." Then a voice came from heaven, saying, "I have both glorified it and will glorify it again." (29) Therefore the people who stood by and heard it said that it had thundered. Others said, "An angel has spoken to Him." (30) Jesus answered and said, "This voice did not come because of Me, but for your sake. E. Seven torches = The seven-fold Spirit of God. Complete in power, complete in coverage of the earth, complete in knowledge and understanding F. Picture the pillar of fire leading the Israelites through the wilderness. 27 Exodus 13:21-22 The LORD went ahead of them. He guided them during the day with a pillar of cloud, and He provided light at night with a pillar of fire. This allowed them to travel by day or by night. (22) And the LORD did not remove the pillar of cloud or pillar of fire from its place in front of the people. G. sea of glass = the mount of the congregation, or assembly place at the top of the Mountain of God 28 Revelation 15:2 And I saw something like a sea of glass mingled with fire, and those who have the victory over the beast, over his image and over his mark and over the number of his name, standing on the sea of glass, having harps of God.

The throne of God sits on the sea of glass, which is movable 29 Exodus 24:9-11 Then Moses, Aaron, Nadab, Abihu, and the seventy elders of Israel climbed up the mountain. (10) There they saw the God of Israel. Under His feet there seemed to be a surface of brilliant blue lapis lazuli, as clear as the sky itself. (11) And though these nobles of Israel gazed upon God, He did not destroy them. In fact, they ate a covenant meal, eating and drinking in His presence! J. It is where heaven gathers before God. K. When we worship, we place ourselves there. 30 Hebrews 4: 16 Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need. L. Intercession and Worship was the process, and the point of, the deliverance of Israel from Egypt M. living beings, covered with eyes, front and back. Revelation 4:7-8 The first living creature was like a lion, the second living creature like a calf, the third living creature had a face like a man, and the fourth living creature was like a flying eagle. (8) The four living creatures, each having six wings, were full of eyes around and within. And they do not rest day or night, saying: "Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty, Who was and is and is to come!" i. Living creatures ABOVE the sea of glass initiate the worship order. These living beings are called seraphim. They are surrounding God the Father’s throne. 31 Isaiah 6:2-3 Above it stood seraphim; each one had six wings: with two he covered his face, with two he covered his feet, and with two he flew. (3) And one cried to another and said: "Holy, holy, holy is the LORD of hosts; The whole earth is full of His glory!" ii. Seraphim are “made to see”, have one face, and 6 wings iii. They can’t get enough of God’s Glory iv. It overwhelms them and they cry out. Holy, Holy, Holy (transcendent beauty or unspeakable glory…”wholly other than”) v. Heaven will not be boring Revelation 4:9-11 Whenever the living creatures give glory and honor and thanks to Him who sits on the throne, who lives forever and ever, (10) the twenty-four elders fall down before Him who sits on the throne and worship Him who lives forever and ever, and cast their crowns before the throne, saying: (11) "You are worthy, O Lord, To receive glory and honor and power; For You created all things, And by Your will they exist and were created."
