Principal’s Report Happenings

Over the next week people will start to see work happening around the school in anticipation of the start of our new school building. Tenders for the construction of the school have closed. The Minister for Education, The Hon James Merlino is expected to make an official announcement very soon on the successful tender. Last chance School Council nominations close tomorrow. Being on council is a great way to support our school. A strong and diverse School Council helps make a great school. You do not need any previous experience only a willingness to help make Epsom great. Nominations close at 4 pm tomorrow and self nomination forms are available at the office. Nomination box is at the office.

Start of Day The teachers and I are very pleased with children being on time for school. There has been a huge improvement in punctuality with children being at school, with bags unpacked and learning at 9:00 o'clock. Not arriving late improves the learning time not only of the individual child but the whole class. Well done. Team China Our Team China dinner was a great success last week. Thank you to all the teachers, families and friends who supported the night. Swimming Carnival Our annual swimming sports are fast approaching; check your child's bag for the permission note. It is a House Event day so plenty of house colours please. Epsom Facebook You can keep up with all our latest events by being a friend of EPS on our Facebook page. Subject Contributions A reminder that subject contribution payments are due before the end of Term 1. These payments cover your child’s learning resources and use of devices for the year. Bank details for the school are as follows : BSB 633000 Account Number 107661738 Please use your child’s name as your reference.

School Fax Number: 03 5448 3334 Website: www.epsomps.vic.edu.au

TEAM CHINA ZOOPER DOOPERS Will be on sale Tuesdays and Thursdays after school for 50c. STUDENT BANKING/HOUSE EVENT LAUNCHED! Last week at assembly our House Captains launched our first House event for the year. We are encouraging as many students as possible to open a student bank account with the Bendigo Bank. Not only does this teach early fiscal management and money skills it also supports our local Bendigo Northern District Community Enterprise. The Enterprise has supported the school previously with funds for a Chook Shed, a Defib Machine and now an Honour Board for our Gr 2 Citizenship Award. We hope in the future to apply for a major grant ($10, 000+) for a playground, shade sail, etc for our new school. Each student who opens a new account receives 20 House points (Term 1 only) and every time they deposit a minimum of $1 on a Tuesday they will receive another 5points for their House (rest of the year). If parents bank with the Bendigo Bank we would love you to consider linking your accounts with the enterprise and tell them you are from Epsom PS. We understand completely that the decision to open a student bank account rests with families. SWIMMING NOTE – CORRECTION. The Swimming Carnival Note that went home this week had 2 major errors in it: The correct date is: Friday 10th March Correct times: Seniors start at 9:30am and Juniors start at 10:30am. Mrs Davey apologises profusely for these errors – too much birthday cake this week! The weather is predicted at 30 degrees and sunny – please make sure sunscreen is applied before school and tubes packed in swimming bags. Sunscreen will also be available at the pool. Lots of small snacks are ideal for this day. Mrs Davey
