Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis. Enrollment in some classes may be limited. When: March 21st 3:45-6:00 & March 22nd 3:45-6:30 Where: Wilson Middle (Foyer by the Main Office) What to Bring: Completed registration form and payment
Fees are due at registration. Checks can be made payable to AASD. All of the middle schools in Appleton offer summer school programs. If you are interested in attending another site for summer school, please see the back side of this sheet or the summer school website for a listing of registration dates and times.
If you are unable to register during an evening registration session, you may mail your completed registration form or drop it off (after the final kick-off evening) at the School Office (c/o Summer School Coordinator).
If you plan to register your child, please do not delay as classes will be cut if the minimum number of students is not met. Phone registrations will NOT be taken. Registrations will also be accepted up through the first two days of summer school if there are still spots available. If you wish to receive a confirmation of your child’s summer school classes in late May, you will need to include a self addressed, self stamped envelope with your registration form. If you have any questions, please call (920) 832-4976.
Policies: All Appleton Area School District policies during the regular academic school year regarding dress, behavior, and school safety are in effect during summer school.
Important: If your child has any health concerns or special needs, please indicate that on the registration form and be sure to tell the summer school coordinator when you register. If your child has an IEP or 504 plan, please indicate that on the registration form and give a copy of the plan to the site coordinator. According to WI Dept of Public Instruction, summer school classes are not tailored to implement a student’s IEP. Material Fees: To be paid at registration. Please make checks payable to Appleton Area School District and note your child’s name on check.
Waivers: Students who qualify for the free milk or reduced lunch program may waive material fees. Please verify this with the site coordinator upon registration.
Out of District Students: Any student from the Brillion, Freedom, Hilbert, Hortonville, Kaukauna, Kimberly, Little Chute, Menasha, Neenah, or Shiocton districts may attend summer school in Appleton. Appleton School District students are welcomed to take summer school classes in any of the above mentioned consortium districts.

Students will be introduced to a variety of two and three-dimensional projects, including painting, drawing, and designing unique creations to decorate lockers, display at home, or give as gifts. Samples will be used to teach techniques. Emphasis is on creativity and self-expression. Ever want to be someone else? Ever want to explore new worlds? Ever want to try something you never thought possible? This summer, through high-interest teen literature, you’ll have an adventure of a lifetime alongside your peers! This adventure will also help you dig deeper into yourself through the art of writing. Throughout the process you will unknowingly become the reader and writer you’ve always thought you could be. Come along for the ride! (2 hour class)- Open to ELL students entering grades 7 and 8 who have an English language proficiency level of 1 or 2. ELL students in this class will continue to develop their oral language, vocabulary and literacy skills by engaging in a variety of high-interest texts. Students will have opportunities to read, write, share their ideas, and listen to others as they explore books and topics from all content areas. (1 hour class)- Open to ELL students entering grades 7 and 8 who have an English language proficiency level of 3- 5. ELL students in this class will immerse themselves in a variety of high-interest texts, including poetry, literature, and informational texts that represent many perspectives. Students will dig deep into the books, exploring the stories and characters to support their written reflections and collaborative conversations.
Come and use technology and equipment provided by FVTC in this fun class! Students will learn how to build simple circuits and put them to practical use immediately by creating homemade alarms, build electric cars driven by DC electric motors or pulleys and a switches, build light circuits powered by batteries and controlled by a switches, and use web based software to design and create 3D models including rings, phone cases, game pieces, pendants, logos, and nametags.
Fire Up for Fitness $5.00 Students will have access to the Wilson Fitness Center. Students will learn the fundamentals of weight training, cardio training, resistance training and stretching. Students will learn a variety of methods and equipment in order to reach their peak performance. Flag Football

Flag Football is a great opportunity to learn, play, and improve your skills of throwing, catching, and running without being tackled. Flag Football is a variant American Football in which the basic rules are similar to those of the main stream game. Flag Football is played with two equal teams each trying to pass and run with the ball after the catch over the opposite goal line. The defense tries to stop the offense by grabbing the flag on the player with the ball. The offense has four chances (downs) to make it to the next cone or goal line, whichever comes first. This summer enjoy a variety of outdoor games that will include leisure and recreational activities. Games to pick from may include Soccer, Speedball, Frisbee Golf, Softball, Flag Football, Ultimate Frisbee, and many others. Each week the students will participate in a variety of games. An introductory class to weight training techniques to increase muscle tone and to improve cardiovascular conditioning. This class will teach safe strength training techniques through a variety of workouts utilizing various fitness equipment. Students will gain a better understanding of their personal physical fitness levels and gain confidence in weight training skills. This class is for beginners both male and female to gain muscle tone, burn some calories, and promote a healthy life style.
For incoming 7th graders who need assistance and practice with 6th grade math concepts. Small group and individual instruction will include hands-on practice, math games, and problem solving strategies. For incoming 8th graders who need assistance and practice with 7th grade math concepts. Small group and individual instruction will include hands-on practice, math games, and problem solving strategies. For students who will be in 9th grade in the fall who need assistance and practice with 8th grade math concepts.
