WINTERS CHAPEL U M C PRESCHOOL STAFF 2016/2017 Mary Trompeter has a B.A. from Clemson University and has done graduate work in Early Childhood Education at the College of Charleston. She has been working with children as a teacher or childcare administrator for most of the last 36 years. Before Winters Chapel, Mary was Director of Norcross Presbyterian Preschool. She has been a volunteer coach for the Odyssey of the Mind Problem Solving Competition. Mary has four children Meghann, Wells, Lane and Elizabeth. Mary is in charge of certification for the North Georgia UMC Preschool Association. This is her twenty first year as Director at Winters Chapel U.M.C. Sarah Jarvis will be joining the Winters Chapel Preschool family as the new Cool Cats’ teacher. She has one daughter, Charli Ann (2) who is a Busy Bee at Winters Chapel as well. Sarah has 9 years of teaching experience in elementary and middle school in Fulton County. She has her Bachelors degree in Education from The University of Georgia as well as her MED from Kennesaw State University where she specialized in mathematics education and also earned her Talented and Gifted certification. Joy Streeter is returning for her fourth year and is very excited to spend each day hanging out in our Cool Cats class! She has three children, Jake (7th grade) who attends Sandy Springs Middle, Joelle (5th grade) and Josh (3rd grade), who attend Dunwoody Springs Elementary School. Joy has been very involved in the school's PTA, going into her 7th year serving on their PTA Executive board. Joy worked at various advertising agencies for many years with a B.S. in Marketing/Advertising from Ferris State University in Big Rapids, MI. Julia Pruett is a lifelong member of Winters Chapel UMC. She has a B.S. from Georgia Southern and a Master in Special Education and Educational Psychology from Georgia State University. This is Julia’s fourth year teaching the Marvelous Monkeys. She has helped us with summer camp for nineteen years. Julia taught special education in Newton County Public Schools for ten years. She is excited to be back for her twelfth year of teaching three year olds. Her son Jeremy is a 3rd grader this year. Erin Carrasquillo was a WCUMPS parent for the past 3 years and her daughter Audrey will be going to Kindergarten this year. Erin is returning this fall as a teacher for the Marvelous Monkeys. She has a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from American Intercontinental University and has over 20 years of crafting, sewing, and DIY experience. She will be teaching an art class after school this year. Kellie Meehan was a parent at Winters Chapel. She has twin girls that are 8 going into 3rd grade at Peachtree Elementary and is very involved with their school. Kellie has helped us with Kids Closet and around the school, filling in where needed for the past 6 years. She loves the outdoors and vacations at the beach. Kellie and her husband have a cleaning company and have been married for 14 years.
Martha Anne Singer was a parent and volunteer at Winters Chapel for 10 years before joining our staff as Math and Science teacher and finally as teacher in the Flying Fish. Martha Anne will again be teaching in the Flying Fish Class. She has a Bachelor of Science in Special Education from Northern Illinois University. She taught in the Chicago Public School System for 5 years and has also been a substitute in the Atlanta area. Son, Jake will be in ninth grade at North Springs HS, son, Jordan will be in eighth grade at Sandy Springs Middle and daughter, Cara will be in fifth grade at Dunwoody Springs this year. Dorsey Goschy is joining the Winters Chapel staff this year. She will be working in the Flying Fish room with Martha Anne Singer. Dorsey has worked as a nanny and camp counselor and has a BA in Communications from the College of Charleston. Dorsey has one daughter, Charlotte, who will be in the Busy Bees class this year. Catherine Eagen is joining us this year as the lead teacher in the Fun Frogs class of young 3 year olds. Catherine has a BS in Exercise and Sports Science from University of NC at Greensboro and a Masters in Early Childhood Education from Georgia State University. She has taught in several area public and private elementary schools, most recently at Cornerstone Christian Academy, in the midst of raising her 5 kids ranging in age from 9 to 17. She loves children and is so excited and honored to have the opportunity from the Lord to develop and teach your 3 year olds. Jackie Coleman is new to the Winters Chapel staff after being a parent here for the last several years. She will be assisting Catherine Eagan in the Fun Frogs class. Her son, John Wyatt, will be a Flying Fish this year and her daughter, Olive, will be in the Tumbling Teddies class. Jackie has a BA in Spanish from UGA as well as a Masters in Professional Counseling from Richmont Graduate University and an M.Ed. in Human Development and Psychology from the Harvard Graduate School of Education. Kelly Romano will be in the Busy Bees class this year. This is her sixth year teaching at WCUMCP. Kelly has a B.S. in Exercise and Health Science from Kennesaw State University. Kelly’s husband works at Marist School and Kelly has a fourth grade son, Michael, and a daughter, Kaitlyn who is just starting Kindergarten this year. Allison Parkes was a Winters Chapel parent for three years, and began working as a substitute during that time. This will be her fourth year in the Busy Bees class and she will also be teaching Spanish after school. Allison has a degree in Political Science from Berry College in Rome, Georgia, and she worked at Turner Broadcasting for ten years. Her son, Wade, will be a seventh grader at Peachtree Charter Middle School. Her daughters, Lindsay, a fifth grader and Brooke, a second grader, will be at Kingsley Elementary this year. Diane Chappell will return for her 13th year at Winters Chapel teaching The Lucky Ducks
Class. Diane has a B.S. in Psychology and a Masters in Therapeutic Recreation from Georgia State University. Diane teaches her Fun & Games Galore P.E. class at several schools in the area including ours. Diane’s daughter, Lindsay, will be a junior at Norcross High School this year. Micki Temples is returning for her eighth year at Winters Chapel in the Lucky Ducks class. Micki has a BBA from Georgia State University and worked as a kindergarten parapro in the Barrow County public schools system prior to coming to Winters Chapel. Micki lives in Dacula and is married. She has one daughter who is presently attending Georgia Gwinnett College. Blair Chan is returning for her third year in the Tumbling Teddies class. She loves bringing joy, fun and adventure to these little minds! She has three children- Nicholas 4th grade, Millyn 2nd grade and Jaxson 3 years old in the Fun Frogs Class. Nicholas and Millyn are Winters Chapel alumni and still speak on their fond WCP memories. Blair has a BA in Hospitality from Georgia State. For 15 years, she worked at a local hotel planning meetings and parties for corporate and social organizations. Now she plans a party in the Teddy room every day! Celeste Sperback will be in the Tumbling Teddies Class on Mondays and Wednesdays in her second year at Winters Chapel. Celeste has a BFA in Public Relations from Valdosta State University and a Masters in Counselor Education from Mississippi State University. Celeste’s has two children. Matthew is in first grade at Simpson Elementary and Jacob will be a Cool Cat this year. Jane Porter will be in the Tumbling Teddies class on Tuesdays and Thursday in her second year at Winters Chapel. Jane attended Pierce College in Woodland, California and has worked for Delta for 16 years. She continues to work part time as a flight attendant. She has two children. Lucas attends the Globe academy and is in second grade and son Nico will be in the Flying Fish this year. Katie Gunnels begins her first year at Winters Chapel as our primary substitute as well as back up for various classes so she will have the opportunity to meet and work with all of the Winters Chapel students. Her daughter, Caroline, will be in the Marvelous Monkeys next year. Katie has a BA from Armstrong Atlantic State University and grew up in Savannah. She and husband, Charlie, are expecting a new addition in January 2017! Dani Price taught music the last year and a half and will return in that position. Her daughter Hazel will be in1st grade at Peachtree Elementary this year. Daughter Emi will be a Cool Cat and Paislee will be in the Flying Fish. Isla will be a Tumbling Teddy. Four years ago Dani was a Busy Bees teacher. Dani has a B.S. degree in Child and Family Development from Southern Virginia University. Holly Reese begins her tenth year at Winters Chapel teaching Yoga Classes. Holly earned a BBA from The University of Georgia in Human Resources Management and a Masters in Holistic Nutrition from Clayton College. Holly is certified in teaching children’s yoga. Holly’s children Jaden and Maya are in middle school this year.
Kim Sonderman will be returning as Math and Science Teacher. She received her BS in Biology from Portland State University and her Master of Science in Wildlife Biology at UGA. She has 5 children. Her triplets are in 3rd grade at Lilburn Elementary, Aiden will be a Cool Cat and Kellar will be a Flying Fish. Bettina Smalley was a parent at Winters Chapel before she began helping us in the office and as a classroom substitute eleven years ago. Bettina is in charge of our Kids Closet fundraiser and Mary’s office assistant. Bettina’s daughter, Christy, is a freshman at Norcross High School and her son, Adam, is in 7th grade at Pinckneyville Middle this year. Both are Winters Chapel Preschool Alumni. Bettina has a B.S. in Business and Psychology from the State University of New York and an M.B.A. from Georgia State.
