PROF. DR. ÖZER CIFTCIOGLU Prof. Dr. Ozer Ciftcioglu is an academic member of Maltepe University. He was working as academic member at Istanbul Technical University (ITU) through the years 1967 and 1998 at the Electrical and Electronics Engineering Faculty, Chair of Nuclear Power in Electricity. Through the years 1998 and 2008 he was working at Delft University of Technology, being affiliated first with the Faculty Electrical Engineering, Mathematics and Computer Science, Chair of Control and Information Systems, and thereafter with the Faculty of Architecture, Chair of Design Informatics. Prof. Ciftcioglu graduated as MSc in Electronics and Communication option from ElectricalElectronics Engineering Faculty of ITU in 1967; he graduated as MSc Nuclear Engineer from University of Strathclyde, UK in 1971, having the fellowship from International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA, Vienna). He accomplished his PhD at ITU in 1976. He became associate Professor (Habil.) in 1981, and he is promoted as full-professor in 1988 at ITU. He had been holding guest professorships in different universities and research centres in Europe and in the USA. In the years of his academic career, he has been giving a number of lectures at ITU, and other universities as invited Professor in the field of both Nuclear Engineering and Electrical Engineering. Some lecture titles in graduate and undergraduate level in the field of Electrical Engineering are: Probability and Stochastic Processes; Stochastic System Modelling and Identification; Optimizaton; Optimal Signal Processing; Spectral Analysis and Time Series; Digital Signal Processing; Adaptive Modelling; Statistical Estimation Theory; Optimal Estimation and Kalman Filtering; Wavelets and Applications; Sensor/Data Fusion; Neural Networks; System Reliability; Fault Diagnosis in Large Scale Process Systems; Finite Elements Method in Electrical Engineering; Neural Networks for Non-linear System Identification and Control. In the last two decades his activities and research interest are focused on computational intelligence and computational complexity, publishing papers in the research areas of signal processing, soft computing (neural page 1 | 11
networks, fuzzy logic, genetic algorithms and evolutionary computation,) information processing in design context. Some special research areas are visual perception, knowledge modeling, and multiobjective (Pareto) optimization, and special application areas include architectural design themes. Professor Ciftcioglu is a regular reviewer of IEEE Transactions, and he is a Senior Member of the IEEE. He has been member of the editorial boards of a number of scientific journals, as well as organizing committees of international conferences. •
