SNAKE D.H. LAWRENCE Snake, wonderful poem, speaks about the poet‘s feelings towards the snake. On a hot summer day a snake came to his water trough to drink water. The poet had to wait for his turn. The snake was golden in colour. His knowledge of education cautioned him that it was a poisonous snake. His inner voice urged him to kill the snake. He took a log and threw at the snake. The snake was unhurt, but it was shocked and ran into its hole. Now the poet felt guilty. The snake did not harm him. But he harmed the snake. It was like a guest that came to his house. He insulted his guest. He was so sorry for his mean act.

THE MAN HE KILLED THOMAS HARDY This poem brings out the ugly face of war. The poet was in the battlefield. He shot at his enemy and killed him on the spot. Now a thought crossed the mind of the poet. Why should he kill a person who had done him no harm? Was there any personal enmity between the poet and his so-called enemy? The meaningless war made them meaningless enemies. The poet and his enemy joined the army because he was unemployed. Actually they were not patriots. They were soldiers made out of poverty. It was only the situation that forced them to be cruel to each other. If these two had met in an inn, they would have become friends and bought a drink to each other. The poet blames the war for this tragic event.

Disadvantages of computer: It replaces man power and causes unemployment, People working on computers for long time get bone and joint problems Conclusion: Computers reduce job opportunity. Many students misuse the computer. By the use of computers the world has shrunk as a global village. RAIN WATER HARVESTING Introduction : Rain is an important source of water. If it is preserved properly we can reduce the water problem. Benefits of harvesting : It increases the ground water level. When rain water is not stored, it results in flood and soil erosion. Rain water reduces the demand for drinking water and used for agriculture. It is a clean and salt-free. It reduces salt-accumulation in the soil which is harmful to plants and crops. Means of storing : Everyone is to take pledge to construct rain water harvesting system in all buildings. In turn, the underground water level is increased. It is a onetime expense. But the benefit is immense. Conclusion : Rain water harvesting is the need of the hour. It saves our money and electricity. Hence we must use available water wisely. ENVIRONMENTAL POLLUTION Introduction : Pollution means making things, dirty. It is manmade. It causes various problems. Air Pollution : Air pollution means release of carbandioxide in air. Vehicles, Cement factories, tanneries and thermal stations cause air pollution. It causes lung disease. It also affects the ozone layer. Water Pollution : Industrial waste and domestic sewage mix with drinking water. Industries use a lot of water which is discharged along with chemicals. Impure water causes many water-borne diseases. Noise Pollution : Cities are noisy. Loud speakers, automobiles distract out attention. Factories, trains and vehicles make a lot of noise. It causes deafness, ulcer and skin diseases. Conclusion : Lead simple life. Have a peace of mind.
