Atmospheric perspective refers to how the appearance of objects changes over distance by the effects of the air between the viewer and the object.

Atmospheric perspective in art is the technique of creating the illusion of depth in a painting or drawing by reducing the color and intensity of objects as they get further into the distance.

Atmospheric perspective: The farther away the object is, the lighter in value and less distinct it becomes; the closer the object, the darker and more detailed it is, with greater contrast of light and dark.

The farther the object, the lighter it is in value. The closer the object, the more detail you see.
