"The training and development of well-qualified and competent college lecturers is an important requirement in ensuring that FET colleges produce qualifying learners with the necessary competencies and vocational skills required by the labour market and society." Introduction The aim of the conference was to look at different aspects of the professional development of lecturers. Participants engaged in discussions on lecturer qualifications, implementation of policy and college based continuing professional development. But, foremost, the conference wanted to create a forum for intensive interactions and learning of all stakeholders.

The VVOB and Flemish government supported the conference, thus requiring international collaboration. Objectives Our objectives were to organise a successful conference and create maximum networking opportunities. Particular requirements included the organisation and coordination of accommodation, transport and networking for 170 delegates. Publics to be reached FET colleges and higher education institutions
