Boundary Adjustment Committee October 2014 - Superintendent appointed committee to recommend boundary adjustment:
Twelve (12) members Two (2) parents from each elementary and middle schools
Board set criteria for committee to consider.
Criteria
Enrollment Stability – Balancing enrollment across all schools so that no one school is over or under enrolled. Sustainability – Boundary can be maintained for several years. Neighborhood Intactness – Natural neighborhoods are kept as whole as possible. Student Impact – Boundary adjustment minimizes impact on students.
Criteria
Proximity – Boundary supports students attending schools as close as possible to their homes. Transportation – Consideration is given to safety and efficiency in transporting students to school.
Work to Date October – December 2014
Committee met three times, analyzed community growth patterns, building capacities, and Board criteria.
Committee drafted three elementary and two middle school options for public input.

Decline in elementary school enrollment. Flat growth in Middle Schools. 16% growth in High School due to population bubble.

Development Considerations
Sherwood has a population of 18,575 with approx. 6701 dwelling units 5095 single family 1606 multi-family
Coordination between City, School District, TVF&R, ODOT, WACO, CWS, State, Metro and neighboring jurisdictions critical during review.
City of Sherwood planning ahead for metered growth.

Enrollment Stability – Provides capacity at Edy and room to grow while balancing enrollment at other elementary schools. Sustainability – Can be well maintained for 3+ years. Neighborhood Intactness - Doesn’t split neighborhoods. Student Impact - Low-Med Impact: 239 kids (11.1%).

Neighborhood Intactness – Strong neighborhood intactness. Student Impact - Lowest student impact: 190 kids (8.8%). Transportation – Impacts two walk zones.

Neighborhood Intactness – May impact some neighborhoods. Student Impact - Medium student impact: 286 kids (13.2%). Transportation – Impacts one walk zone.

Next Steps January & February 2015 - Committee refines options. January 22, 2015 - Community Open House February 2015 - Board receives BAC recommendations. March 2015 - Board makes decision. Spring 2015 - District communicates new boundaries boundaries to parents, students, and community. September 2015 - New boundaries take effect.
