As Walnut Cove Elementary looks over the achievements from the 2015-2016 school year, we are reminded of our mission statement: To guide and nurture each student so they will grow towards their personal best. This is the standard we have set for Walnut Cove Elementary, and we take this mission seriously as we work together each day to provide the best education possible for all our students. The NC School Report Card information is for the 2015-2016 school year. This report card includes important information about school and student performance, class sizes, attendance, school safety, school facilities, instructional resources, and teacher quality. There is also data about how our school measured against federal Annual Measurable Objectives (AMO) targets. Walnut Cove Elementary is extremely proud of our students’ accomplishments and efforts. Walnut Cove Elementary met “expected growth” last year, meaning that, on average, the students at Walnut Cove made at least one year’s worth of academic growth in reading and math in grades three, four, and five. We are continuously seeking to enhance our students’ experiences at Walnut Cove Elementary by providing more personalized instruction for each of our students. Teachers also work extremely hard to instruct our students on the skills needed to master the use of technology by integrating it in their daily instruction. In addition to these efforts, Walnut Cove provides additional instructional support personnel that every child benefits from. Our goal is to mold and grow each student in preparation for success in a competitive 21st century. Not only are we focusing on academics at Walnut Cove, but we also teach our students the emotional and social skills needed to be successful in life. In order to maximize our students’ potential, we hope to grow our partnerships with our parents and community members to provide the best educational experience possible for our students.
