We strive for better and we will continue to grow and offer our students the best education possible while keeping our local values a priority. We do believe though that the Report Card is not a comprehensive view of the great things the District offers our students. ACADEMIC STRATEGY TEAM During this school year, we invite you to join the Academic Strategy Team to develop our District’s Mission, Goals for the future, and Vision. With the ever changing educational climate, we want to ensure that student and community needs are being met. We will investigate topics such as, technology, homework, curriculum, and advanced classes. The Academic Strategy Team will be made up of local stakeholders including: administration, teachers, board of education, students, parents and community members. October 26th conferences will run from 4:00 – 8:00

NATIONAL SCHOOL BUS SAFETY WEEK Nationwide we will celebrate National School Bus Safety Week from October 17th through the 21st. We greatly thank all of our bus drivers who transport our children safely every day! FIRE PREVENTION WEEK On Friday, October 14th, our local firefighters came to the school. Students in preschool through grade 4 learned about fire dangers, fire safety and prevention. Thank you firefighters!!

SCHOOL WALKING HOURS FOR PUBLIC The school will be open again for anyone wishing to walk indoors. The walking hours will be from 9:00-10:30 a.m. in the auxiliary gym. Hours are cancelled if school is delayed or cancelled. Please enter through the High School front entrance. GUIDANCE NEWS - MRS. MINDY LOSH Testing, scholarships, and guidance reminders are posted on school announcements and the school website. Students also receive important guidance information through Google Classroom. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Mrs. Losh at 419-286-2238 ext. 2110 or [email protected]. ProgressBook: Any parent or student needing access information to ProgessBook can e-mail Mrs. Losh at [email protected] to request your child’s information. Fort Jennings High School Homework Matrix: The homework matrix was created as a communication tool to help support the parents and students. Students and parents can check the homework matrix for daily assignments, upcoming projects, and future tests. If a child is absent or has missing homework, he or she can check the matrix for daily assignments. Students in grades 7-12 were shown how to access this new link on the high school webpage. Monthly Senior Guidance Newsletter: The monthly guidance newsletter will have announcements about deadlines, scholarships, and a senior to-do-list. I will send out a group email to any senior parent interested in having this newsletter emailed to them. Please e-mail me if you are interested in receiving the monthly guidance newsletter. Homework Helpers: National Honor Society members are available during 7th period Academic Assist to help any student in grades 7-12 with homework. If your child needs extra help with studying or homework, please contact Mrs. Losh or Mrs.

ATHLETIC TICKET SALES Basketball season tickets and winter passes will be sold Wednesday, October 26th from 4:00-7:00 p.m. and Thursday, October 27th from 10:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. Any remaining tickets will be available Monday, November 14th thru Wednesday, November 16th from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in the HS office. KINDERGARTEN REGISTRATION Mark Your Calendars: Fort Jennings Elementary will hold kindergarten registration for the 2017-2018 school year on school days from December 12th thru December 21st. Please come to the elementary office between 8:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. to register your child. Children must be five years of age on or before September 30, 2016 to be eligible for kindergarten. Parents are asked to bring the child's birth certificate, social security number, and immunization record at the time of registration.
