What is Amplify Austin Day? Amplify Austin Day is a 24-hour day of online giving when partner nonprofits and their fundraisers promote and raise unrestricted funds for their organizations via AmplifyATX.org. This technology platform is functional year-round but one day per year we rally the donor community and spotlight local nonprofit organizations that serve the many needs of Central Texans. Who created it? I Live Here, I Give Here, a nonprofit organization whose mission is to cultivate the power of giving in Central Texas, created this initiative in 2013. Since 2013, Amplify Austin Day has raised over $25M for over 600 local nonprofit organizations. When will Amplify Austin Day 2017 take place? 6pm, Thursday, March 2 through 6pm, Friday, March 3, 2017. What are the benefits in participating? I Live Here, I Give Here works hard to ensure extensive publicity of Amplify Austin Day, a generous incentive fund and prizes, relevant live trainings, useful resource materials and opportunities to help your organization build capacity, grow donations and reach new donors. This annual day of giving presents an exciting opportunity for you to leverage your team’s efforts by capitalizing on the energy, publicity and branding of a regional campaign. Our community has consistently come together for one day on one website and the results have been tremendous. Residual giving continues after the big day because of the good spirits it fosters. Last year, Amplify Austin Day brought in an additional $300K in the hours before and after the official 24-hours. You don’t want to miss out!

Fundraise!

What is an Individual Fundraiser? Individual Fundraisers are members of the community who volunteer to raise funds on Amplify Austin Day on behalf of the nonprofit organization(s) they care about by creating a custom web page at AmplifyATX.org with a personal fundraising appeal. This tool is extremely effective in engaging donors and makes peer-to-peer fundraising easy. We encourage you to involve your staff and board of directors. They are your greatest resources! Individual Fundraisers can sign up starting Wednesday, January 25, 2017 and can continue to sign up until Noon on March 2, 2017. An Individual Fundraiser can only have one fundraising page per nonprofit. When Amplify Austin Day ends, what happens to my Individual Fundraiser’s profile? Individual Fundraiser pages that are specifically created for Amplify Austin Day 2017 and will be deactivated after the event. However, Individual Fundraisers can always reactivate or create a new page to continue to raise funds year-round. What is a Business Fundraiser? Central Texas is full of passionate and generous businesses that champion causes right here at home. I Live Here, I Give Here recruits local businesses to support and promote Amplify Austin to their employees. Some businesses offer matching dollars to match employee giving. Matching Grants We encourage you to seek out individual and/or corporate donors that will match donations made to your organization during Amplify Austin Day. This is a great way to incentivize giving to your organization. Matching dollars are a huge motivator for giving and we want you to have the opportunity to share this information with potential donors. If your organization has a match available, your organization will have the ability to display this information prominently on your organization’s profile. It is the nonprofit’s responsibility to selfidentify that you have secured matching funds on your profile along with a description of that match. Donors will have the ability to search for nonprofits that have secured matching funds. Any funds you secure from an individual or corporate donor to match gifts made to you on Amplify Austin Day will need to be disbursed by that donor directly to you. I Live Here, I Give Here will not be involved in that process. However, if you want matching funds to be included in your online totals, the match must be processed online during the 24-hour Amplify Austin Day period.

Donations

Must all donations be made through the Amplify Austin site? Yes. Amplify Austin is the designated website for donors to give to participating organizations during Amplify Austin Day. To qualify for the Incentive Fund and prizes, donations must be made through the AmplifyATX.org platform by the donors themselves. Remember, AmplifyATX.org is a tool that allows individuals to donate to nonprofits on their own initiative and is not intended as a vehicle to facilitate gifts that you have already solicited through other means. Can a nonprofit offer a premium for Amplify Austin gifts? No. All gifts made on Amplify Austin Day must be 100% tax deductible. No goods or services can be provided in exchange for the donation. No donation received through AmplifyATX.org may be used for the following purposes: • To support a political campaign; • To purchase raffle tickets; • To pay for membership, dinner or any other activity that provides a benefit to the donor(s); • To pay for personal expenses including tuition, incurred by a director, officer or employee of your organization or any of their relatives. Is there a minimum gift amount for Amplify Austin Day? We strongly suggest promoting $25 as the best practice minimum. However, $10 is the minimum dollar amount accepted by the platform. Can a donor schedule an automatic, one-time donation for Amplify Austin Day? Yes. Starting January 25, 2017 up until 5:45PM on March 2, a donor can visit the site and schedule a donation to be made on Amplify Austin Day. Scheduling a donation is convenient for people who are busy. We encourage donors to act while giving is on their mind. Promote scheduled donations in your communications and start your campaign with momentum! Encourage your donors to take make their gifts recurring and take care of all their annual philanthropic giving in one day and schedule that donation to be recurring monthly or quarterly throughout the year. Please note that dollars raised through scheduled donations will only count towards Grand Prizes, not hourly prizes. This is a pledge until the credit card is processed between 12AM - 6AM on March 3. Will there be a service charge on donations made through AmplifyATX.org? Yes. There will be an eight percent service charge on each donation designated for Amplify Austin Day. This includes 3% for credit card processing fees. The remainder of the service charge subsidizes the cost of AmplifyATX.org including training and support, staff, financial services, platform, technology, marketing and public relation costs. For donations not designated for Amplify Austin Day, there will be a five percent service charge on each transaction. This charge includes credit card and processing fees. We work hard to make Amplify Austin Day a cost-effective fundraising strategy as overhead for special events and direct mail strategies can be up to 30% - 50% or more in cost. www.AmplifyATX.org | www.ILiveHereIGiveHere.org/for-non-profits | 512.717.4193

When Amplify Austin Day ends, I Live Here, I Give Here will determine each nonprofit’s share of the Incentive Fund. The pro-rata calculation is your organization’s donations, divided by the total raised by all organizations. In years past, the Incentive Fund has helped offset a portion of the service charge. Can a nonprofit win more than one prize? Yes. A nonprofit can win a maximum of 2 prizes, one from each category: one hourly prize and one Grand Prize. How and when will participating nonprofits receive the dollars raised on Amplify Austin Day? Partners will receive their Amplify Austin dollars and their appropriate share of the Incentive Fund and/or prizes in one single disbursement by mid-April 2017. I Live Here, I Give Here will distribute each partners’s funds by electronic transfer (known as ACH) to the partner’s bank account provided by the organization. Business Fundraisers’ dollars that are being disbursed by I Live Here, I Give Here will be distributed in the first regularly scheduled disbursement after the funds are received.
