Wednesday 3 May 2017 Dear Parents, RE: 2017 Term 2 Year 7/8 Wellington Underwater Hockey Mini-League No.3 Venue: Naenae Pool, Naenae. Date: Saturday 27 May 2.00pm – 7.00pm (tbc) Congratulations to the teams efforts of two Gold’s and 1 Silver from the two mini-leagues in term 1. Registrations have now closed for the term 2 UWH players and the mini-leagues registrations are now open. Your son/daughter has expressed an interest to play in the THIRD of eight UWH mini-league tournaments throughout the year for the EBIS Underwater Hockey team. We are looking at putting in TWO teams of 12. However, student registrations will determine whether this will occur. The EBIS parent managers, Andrea Crichton and Andy Campbell, will manage the team on the day. Parents are encouraged to stay for the duration of the mini-league, which involves a series of round-robin matches against the opposition. Underwater Hockey – General Information Mini-League Tournament information: There are 6 EBIS players in the pool at anyone time and 6 subs. Games typically run up to 14 minutes long. Please check the rules and guidelines at Wellington Underwater Hockey Association (www.wuha.org.nz/mini-league.html). Term 2’s tournaments (Saturday 27 May and Saturday 24 June) are held at Naenae Pool on a Saturday from approximately 2.00pm till 7.00pm, if the team does not make the finals. Five to nine games are played with other intermediate teams in ‘pool play’ resulting in semi-finals and a final for each year group. Full tournament details outlining matches and times will be given to the students when Andrea and Andy are notified. Playing attire: Students need togs with the appropriate underwater hockey gear: a mask, snorkel, glove, socks and fins. The School provides the head cap, gloves, and sticks. The school has 11 mask, snorkel and fin sets which may be used if a student doesn’t have gear. This gear is available for use in game and practice times. Tournament Cost: The cost per team is $240 (12 players), so for each tournament a player pays $20 each. There are up to two tournaments per term. If we only have 8 players then the cost is $30 per player. Thank you for your assistance and please get in touch with Andrea or Andy at practice on Tuesday mornings should you have any further questions. Please fill out the attached form and get your child to hand to their class teacher with payment by Friday 19 May (wk 3).
Yours sincerely,
Ed Trotter Deputy Principal UWH School Co-ordinator
