VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

BRIDGE ENGINEER The Portage County Engineer is accepting applications from persons interested in the full-time position of Bridge Engineer. Typical duties of the position include managing and administering the County’s bridge and culvert repair and replacement program, providing professional engineering direction and supervision to office technicians and construction personnel, overseeing the work done by consultants, assisting with the implementation of the OPWC program and representing the County Engineer as needed. Applicant must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or a related field, have a valid Ohio driver’s license and have a professional engineering license in the state of Ohio. Minimum qualifications include comprehensive knowledge, skill, ability and a minimum of five (5) years experience in applying principles and theories related to bridge design, civil engineering, public works construction, highway design, hydraulic design, structural design, surveying, civil construction inspection and detailing. Must be able to communicate effectively, both orally and written, and have supervisory skills. Successful applicant must possess a working knowledge of Windows Operating System, Microsoft Office Suite, and computer programs for engineering offices. Starting salary is commensurate with experience.
