2018 JUST FOOD EVENT PRODUCER ABOUT JUST FOOD Just Food envisions a sovereign and healthy food system rooted in racial, social, economic, and environmental justice. Since 1995, Just Food sparks community members into action- on the individual, community, and systemic level through our dynamic learner-centered trainings, community- led direct to farm access models, grassroots advocacy efforts and successful convenings. POSITION DESCRIPTION Just Food seeks a dynamic, highly organized, detail oriented self-starter Event Producer to support the planning and execution of diverse events to raise funds to support Just Food. The ideal candidate will have experience planning, managing, and executing a range of successful events (from casual to upscale), a passion for social justice, and a demonstrated commitment to racial equity. An understanding of local as well as culturally relevant food and knowledge of the diverse food landscape (from chefs to restaurants, purveyors, and producers) is also highly desirable. Just Food is committed to refining our events and partnership engagement to better reflect our organizational mission of shifting food justice and improve on utilizing our covenings to further cultivate and connect our spectrum of Just Food supporters. We are looking for an immediate hire who is available 20 hours/week starting in late April 2018. Some work during regular business hours in the Just Food office will be required, but scheduling can be flexible. This is a part-time, non-exempt position at 20 – 40 hours/week from late April to September 2018. This position will report directly to the Executive Director. RESPONSIBILITIES ● Develop 2018 event strategy with Executive Director including events calendar ● Plan and and execute logistics to ensure the timely execution and follow up of events from March through June including but not limited to: planning and implementing the online auction, communicating with vendors and chefs, managing volunteers, overseeing online ticket sales and donations, and managing correspondence with sponsors and guests; and community-based events ● Research new event partners (i.e. chefs, restaurants, vendors, etc) and support cultivation of existing partners with Executive Director ● Provide overall administrative support of events and liaise with event representatives, sponsors, and community partners (when applicable) ● Cultivate and coordinate sponsorship opportunities at 2018 events ● Develop new event related materials for new and existing event partners such as event sponsorship deck

Oversee day-of event logistics and execution, including vendor communication and load-in, volunteer management, and guest registration Conduct PR outreach to generate pre and post press for the event and organization and serve as point person for PR and press releases Track in-kind and monetary donations, sponsorships, and ticket sales; produce regular reports for Executive Director, Host and/or Event Committee Work with Communication Coordinator to create event promotion and marketing via social media and JF mailing list Communicate with graphic designers and photographers to produce and update creative materials and printed event materials Oversee the production and mailing of all print event communications Produce basic table signage and directional signage for event Work with Partnerships Coordinator to identify and solicit event volunteers and manage assignments Produce and mail donor acknowledgment letters after event Supervise event interns, when applicable
QUALIFICATIONS ● Diverse event production or large scale events experience required ● Campaign and community organizing experience a plus ● Strong communication, writing, organizational, facilitation, and negotiation skills. Will have to write a range of materials (such as clear, concise emails, program copy, sponsorship materials, funder correspondence) ● Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office, Google platform, and the Internet), comfort with online ticketing platform, conference apps, Adobe Creative Suite, contact management software a plus ● Exceptionally detail-oriented, organized, reliable, punctual, and ability to be responsive via phone and email ● Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to communicate effectively with Board of Directors, corporate contacts, VIP guests, donors, chefs, farmers, volunteers, and other community partners ● Nonprofit, Development, or social justice event experience and sponsorship solicitation strongly preferred ● Active listener, able to give/receive constructive feedback with ease, function well in high pressure situations, and possess a great sense of humor ● Self-motivated and able to work independently as well as collaboratively ● Familiarity with Just Food community a plus ● Commitment to learning racial equity and social justice and holding this lens in your work ● Enthusiasm for local, seasonal eating and cooking; community health; food access, economic justice, and racial equity; and small farm livelihood issues ● Ease, comfort and desirability to work with diverse groups across race, class, gender, educational backgrounds, including urban/rural communities ● Must have flexibility in availability to meet the deadlines for event execution (early morning, evening, and weekend availability may be required at times) ● Relevant work experience required and/or B.A./B.S. degree ● Fluency in other languages is a plus

TIME FRAME late April/early May – September, 20 hours/week required through June, 20 - 40 hours/week July - September to execute events. Some work during regular business hours will be required, but scheduling can be flexible and a combination of remote and in-office work can be negotiated.
