Dear 5th Grade Orchestra Families, Welcome back to school! I hope your summers were relaxing and wonderful. I am looking forward to having your student start orchestra very soon! Here are some updates and friendly reminders. We look forward to a wonderful start for your student! Meet and Greet: The week of August 28-September 1, the orchestra students will meet with their orchestra teacher and receive their lesson schedules. Lessons (during the day lessons): Lessons are scheduled to begin the week of September 5, 2017. Right now, we are working on creating the lesson schedule. It will be distributed to your student before the first day of lessons. Instruments: Your student should still have their instrument from last year. During the first few weeks of lessons, your teacher will let your family know if your student’s size changed over the summer. Before school/morning orchestra rehearsals: These rehearsals will begin the week of September 18. Right now, we are working on creating the schedule for these rehearsals and will send you more details in the coming months. We will try to inform you of the day of the week they will be scheduled on as soon as possible so families can plan accordingly. HUB rehearsals: These rehearsals will begin at the end of September/early October. It will always be once a month on a Wednesday after school. We will update it periodically throughout the year with information about orchestra. Handbook: Your student will get a paper copy of the 5th Orchestra Handbook in their first week of lessons. You must read and sign the last page of the handbook. It is due September 8. You student can turn in the form to the front office at the school.
