Causative form (p. 27). Forma causal Subject + have / get + object + past participle. Sujeto + Tener / conseguir + objeto + pasado participio. We use the Causative Form when we do not do something ourselves, but we arrange for someone else to do it for us. Utilizamos la forma causal cuando no hacemos algo nosotros mismos, pero organizamos a alguien para hacerlo por nosotros. I have my hair cut once a month. Yo corto mi pelo una vez al mes. Look! Sue has had her hair cut. Mira! Sue ha cortado su pelo. I didn’t have my hair cut because my hairdresser was away. No he cortado mi pelo porque mi peluquero estaba ausente. Causative form. (p. 68). Forma causal. The causative Form is used when we do not do something ourselves, but we arrange somebody else to do it for us. La forma causal se utiliza cuando no hacemos algo nosotros mismos, pero organizamos que alguien más lo haga por nosotros. We painted the house last month (We did it ourselves) Pintamos la casa el mes pasado (Lo hicimos nosotros mismos) We had / got the house painted last month. (A painter did it) Nosotros tuvimos / conseguimos la casa pintada el mes pasado. (Un pintor lo hizo) The Causative Form is formed as follows: Subject + have / get + object + past participle La forma causal está formada como sigue: Sujeto + Tener / Conseguir + Objetivo + pasado participio. Sánchez Herrera José de Jesús Forma causal I have my car fixed. Tengo mi coche reparado. I’m having my car fixed. Estoy reparando mi carro. I had my car fixed. Tuve mi carro reparado. I was having my car fixed. Yo tenía mi carro reparando. I’ll have my car fixed. Voy a tener mi carro reparado. I´ve had my car fixed. Yo he tenido mi carro reparado. I had had my car fixed. Yo he tenido mi carro reparado. I must have my car fixed. Debo tener mi carro reparado.

Note: Nota:  The question and negative forms of the Present Simple and the Past Simple are formed with the auxiliaries do / does and did.  La pregunta y las formas negativas del Presente Simple y el Pasado Simple se forman con los auxiliares do/ does y did. How often do you have your hair cut? ¿Qué tan a menudo tienes tu pelo cortado? Sue didn’t have her hair cut yesterday. Sue no tenía su pelo cortado ayer.  

In informal language we can use get instead of have. En lengua informal podemos usar conseguir en vez de tener. I must get the TV set repaired. Debo tener el televisor reparado.

 

If we want to mention who performs the action, we can add by + agent at the end of the sentence. Si queremos mencionar quién realiza la acción, podemos agregar by + agente al final de la oración. She always has her hair dyed by a hairdresser. Ella Siempre tiene su pelo teñido por un peluquero. Escuela Preparatoria Regional de Cihuatlán Módulo San Patricio
