Joseph Eric 1878-1859 Anna 1880-1947 Elof Daniel 1885-1887 The family became members of the LDS Church in Sweden during 1870’s.

1893 daughter, Hulda Marie MARRIED August Wilhelm Gustavson. They had 4 children. Hulda Marie died during 1899. During 1897 son, Joseph Erick, immigrated to Utah. Daughter, Anna, immigrated to Utah during 1900 aboard “Vancouver”. Parents: Erick Persson Erickson & Anna Marie Kampe Erickson, immigrated during 1901 aboard the steamship “Commonwealth”. Hulda Marie's husband, August Wilhelm Persson Gustavson and their four(4) children and new wife, Kristina Sofia Westerberg, immigrated to Utah during 1905 aboard the ship "Arabic".

DEATH CERTIFICATE: “Erick Peterson a.k.a. Erick Erickson” The person filling out the Death Certificate used “normal” Swedish to USA name convention. Swedish translated to English (USA) Per, Pehr = Peter; Person, Pehrsson = Peterson. Which in this case is both right and wrong. RIGHT: The first name of the deceased’s father becomes the last name of the family in the USA. The deceased’s father is Pehr Carlson (Americanized = Peter Carlson). So, the last name of child, the deceased, is Peterson in the USA. Additionally: 1901 the decease and wife registered their passenger names as Erick Person and Anna K. Person Americanized = Erick Peterson and Anna K. Peterson. Peterson is the correct Americanized name, RIGHT ? WRONG: However, two of the deceased’s children immigrated a few years before their parents. So the children of the deceased, Erick Persson, had already established the family name Erickson before the parents immigrated (the deceased and his wife). In the USA the last name remains the same from generation to generation. So, employment, church, and government records establish the family name as Erickson. Except for this 1904 Death Certificate, many records establish the family name is Erickson. All USA records for the deceased’s wife used her married name Erickson. Her Death Certificate and gravestone name is “Anna Erickson” So, what is right and what is wrong? Erick Erickson or Erick Peterson. They are probably both correct, if kept in the Swedish/Americanized name context.

Anna Marie Kempe (1845-1910) Fred Anderson is son-in-law, husband of daughter Anna Erickson. Son, Joseph Eric Erickson, was on a mission to Sweden 1908-1910. He returned to Utah about Sept., 1910. It is presumed that sometime later son, Joseph Erick, acquired Block 09 Lot 067 at Murray City Cemetery as a family burial plot.

Originally buried 1904 at South Cottonwood Ward Cemetery. About 1917 renamed Murray City Cemetery. At some later date son, Joseph Erick Erickson, acquired family plot 09 067. His father, Erick Persson Erickson (Peterson), was moved from his original grave location to the family plot and reburied, Space 6, next to his wife. However the gravestone inscription is wrong Erick J. Erickson June 9, 1846 Feb 6, 1884 Deceased was in Sweden during 1884 The middle initial and death date are wrong. Exactly why is unknown. Maybe the wrong person was moved? Maybe the gravestone was inscribed with the wrong information? Maybe? Maybe?
